I'm finally just seeing all of this now, so I'll throw in my two cents. The penalty was legit, but Stone's reaction may be the most confusing thing I've seen in a while. The flying elbow after the slash makes absolutely no sense. I can't picture a guy being in the right state of mind to knowingly embellish when he's in serious pain like that, but that motion makes no sense. We may have hit the ugly point where embellishment has become a reflex reaction. The downward chop and the resulting upward recoil in pain just don't balance out. I think I would have been content with the 5 minute major + game misconduct, paired along with 2 minutes for embellishment. No one ever likes it, but it is in fact possible for both to occur. Never trust a single word that comes from the team of an injured player. To this day I still don't trust the "Nathan Horton has a serious concussion" talk from the Boston-Vancouver cup given that they put him on a plane and flew him out to Vancouver for game 7. Stone is no doubt hurt, but if Ottawa can have Montreal's best defenseman taken out of the series for a few games thanks to being a bit liberal with a medical diagnosis, you better believe they'll do it. We're talking about a league where they get as mysterious as possible with the upper/lower body injury stuff. They only put a more specific diagnosis out there if they stand to gain from it. I'm still waiting for the day where a team starts reporting that "player X is out with a body injury".

$70 and then wave after wave of downloadable content, made available for a small fee.

Can someone really get stuck with bad salaries when he's the one handing out those salaries? There are plenty of reasons to think Boston booted this, but that's not one.

Thanks, there is now pepsi all over my monitor. :D

Just what we need, an added layer of confusion when people type TM.

He's horrified to be called a Sabre fan? Here's news for you, you're not. People who bounce around from sport to sport, team to team, flocking towards whatever catches their eye are not fans. They're whores.

So my niece is free now. They're holding out on saying the name yet, but I'm holding on to my 20% shot at Connie McShrader.

Someone at work just used the phrase "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater" in an email. I had to really fight the urge to respond with "show me the baby".

What if Eichel Decides to Return to BU Next Year?
shrader replied to Dave Dryden's topic in The Aud Club
That's what she said? -
Has the iPad always done that? My wife just started complaining this week that her iPad is constantly asking her to log into iCloud, pretty much any time she clicks on anything.

So the team immediately adding a new scoring leader would make people unhappy? I can't imagine any sane person expecting these kids to step in and immediately be a superstar. Crosby topped the 100 point mark as a rookie, but that was in a year where they actually enforced their new rules and the leading scorer (Thornton) put up 125 points. McEichel is entering a very different league where 90 points would get you the Art Ross. -
Only if he prematurely trades away his incredible return from that Kessel trade.

So what if the Sabres get the first two picks in 2015....
shrader replied to dejeanneret's topic in The Aud Club
I don't like thinking of any of these as a single year tank. The whole thing should be viewed as a whole. This whole thing has netted us McEichel, Reinhart, Kane, and I'll also include Ristolainen/Zadorov too. This thing has been in motion for a few years now, so there are more names you can add to that list as well, between the 2012 draft and any other prospects added/drafted after we started selling off assets. No one knows if it will work out, but there sure as hell is a lot more excitement around here than we've had in a long time. -

It doesn't need to be one or the other either. I can't imagine there is anything from stopping him from having a policy through BU AND one of his own. It's all kind of pointless though, because as you suggest, he's leaving. -
So he has to end up in Toronto, right?

I miss the pominstein filter. We need a modern version of that.

So that's why my neck/shoulder has been bugging me lately? Good to know. -
Why would LaFontaine need to win favor with Sabre fans? That would be like Andre Reed needing to win over Bills fans (ok, I'll admit, I couldn't find a good Bills analogue for LaFontaine).

That was BuffalOhio. My hatred of the stripes was well documented around here years ago.
-
Which begs the question that if you have such opposing view, why did you hire that guy in the first place? Every defense I've ever heard for LaFontaine leaving implies that he was a buffoon.
-
You're allowed to tell them to go have another donut, but that's it.
-
I'll take it one step further. Seriously, who drops their gloves at any level of beer league hockey? It takes a special breed of moron for that. Clearly this guy has some Boston in his blood.
-
If anything, those comments related to LaFontaine make Pat look incompetent. To hire a guy and then run away a few months later, you really have to wonder what is going on in his head. Like Nolan, LaFontaine now has a documented history of not being able to work well with others. Maybe both situations really did suck and he is completely innocent with each, but there has to be a cloud of uncertainty hovering over him as well. I loved LaFontaine as a player and as an ambassador to this community, but I sure as hell don't want him running my organization at this point.

The Perfect Storm of Incompetence and the Coming Fan Revolt

I just remember seeing some ugly jerseys displayed at some point. -
He needs to watch far more than his hand. That's not the heimlich maneuver he's giving there.
