  1. I think we should ship a nice new net Pittsburgh, maybe throw in a pane of glass or two.
  2. I don't know where he is, but someone better go and lock up Scott Stevens.
  3. My dad is at a rehab place for his hip and apparently he fell down twice yesterday in the morning. The place didn't bother to call my mother so she didn't even find out until around 6PM. Somehow during the course of her visit, an X-ray tech told her that the other hip was now fractured and he had to go to the hospital to get a scan on both his hip and his head (he's on blood thinners from the hip surgery so bleeds are a major concern). Fortunately everything came back negative, but I have no idea why an X-ray tech would say something like that, scaring the crap out of everyone. That and the place claims they called my mom and left a message, yet there is no voice mail or missed call on her phone. Something seems very fishy about this place right now.
  4. I miss Lloyd Bridges. I can't think of any role where he wasn't great. Anyway, welcome aboard for more full time duty JW. I hope the typical anti-media mentality that tends to drive most boards doesn't drive you away. There's so much that we as a community can gain from having some of the writers as posters, but it almost always falls apart.
  5. PA had just become eligible for AARP when he was hired.
  6. How long did it take for that to happen? I feel like it only should have been a couple weeks. There had to have been at least a few remnants left over from Nolan's first time here who weren't fond of him, even if it's the grizzled usher who still wants to rip tickets in half instead of using the hand-held scanner.
  7. So when do we accuse Stepner of being a puppet of the Sabres? That is the standard approach around here, right?
  8. Especially when the mods have told you to stop on several occasions now.
  9. I think it's a bit much to say that the tank cost Nolan his job. He never would have had the job in the first place if it wasn't for the tank. He was hired as a transitional coach and even he knew it. Can anyone thing of examples of a coach, hired when a team is at rock bottom, sticking around long enough to see the team return to prosperity? I'm sure there are a few, but let's face it, when the typical coach is lucky to stick around for maybe 4 years, Nolan had to know there was very little shot at a long future here.
  10. How much does one of those sell for? I'm guessing I'd have to choose between that and fully furnishing one room of my house.
  11. Now let's just sit back and see if they eventually go after the IOC.
  12. I'd love to know what qualifies as "in some cases". The whole thing is such a strange process and I wonder if there is anything actually written in stone that outlines these cases of trying to hire a fired coach. If by some chance they do try to put together some sort of package deal, the Bylsma portion will wind up being the equivalent of the classic future considerations or the Jason Kasdorf throw in.
  13. Make it 3 years in college. Those BC guys always stick around that long. I'll be curious to see what Hannifin does as he's obviously the most likely to not do his BC 3.
  14. They actually had an application process for draft tickets? Did they really think there would be enough interest in that market that they'd be turning people away? I find that hard to believe.
  15. The main problem is that I only hear clips from highlights shows, so it's only the goals. Espo is hilarious though, he has no idea what his role is supposed to be. My guess is that over the course of a game, he's a lot like Will Ferrell's version of Harry Carey. And as for Milt Ellis, I love the fact that I can actually hear his voice in my head right now without even clicking on any links. Some sounds just stick with you forever.
  16. I know you're talking about arena announcers, but if you really want to make your ears bleed, you should listen to a Tampa Bay radio call.
  17. Remember this post, folks, when you try to suggest that Wawrow is the one with the obsession.
  18. Amen. Ted Nolan is gone. I don't care one bit about anything related to him at this point
  19. People always want what's best for them, ignoring anyone else. While it was very stupid to say it, I'm not surprised he wants to keep good Russian players at home.
  20. eman, Eichel played for Boston UNIVERSITY, not college. You might as well be saying that Jim Kelly was the QB of the Miami Dolphins.
  21. Still not as bad as that three-timer named LabattBlue.
  22. Everyone knows that lurking percentage is the best star to use when analyzing this stuff.
  23. Yeah, that crossed my mind after I posted it. I had a guess as to who would be the first to go there and it wasn't you (I'm sure we all know who I would have guessed).
  24. Or given that the author has covered the Big Ten conference for years, he may very well have had some interaction with Battista in the past. He does that by day anyway, by night he's working on the chemtrails.
  25. Does he count as being at the table if he's hiding under it?
