  1. I agree. That was a very odd way of crediting him for this gesture.
  2. I also wonder them not getting a contract done is more about Tampa or about Stamkos. Are they not willing to pay him or does he just want to leave? The answer to that question will play a major role in any trade.
  3. Yes, that and if he wasn't trying to cripple Miller. It's the little things.
  4. I get a kick out of the lengths some people will go to with their spam email scams. I was clearing out my spam folder today and I noticed one titled "Subway giftcard - Jared apology". I got a good laugh out of that one.
  5. No one questions them at his level, which is a big part of why he's no longer posting here. Honestly, I'm amazed it took this long. He must have been on the 8 strike program, getting suspended for the same exact thing over and over. People like to complain about the moderation here, but if anything, this is an example of how much room they are willing to give you.
  6. There's still plenty of that contrarian voice to go around.
  7. And the way Jenner and Tyutin handled it too. It could have gotten out of hand very quickly if they reacted differently.
  8. Today is the day where my wife gets gifts from her students. One of them gave what apparently is an annual tradition for her family. It was a Red Sox ornament along with a note that money was being donate in her name to a cancer institute in Boston which just so happened to be the same place that treated my father-in-law (who died at this time 2 years ago). I wonder what rolled through that kid's mind as he saw her start to cry after opening it. He probably thought he did something wrong.
  9. That guy was booted like three times. It was hilarious how bad he was at hiding his identity. Each time he came back he'd use his picture as an avatar. It was a different picture each time, but very clearly the same person. Absolutely hilarious. At this point, I don't even remember what he would say that got him on the blocked list, but if nothing else, he should have been banned for the pure stupidity I just described. In other randomness, why is it that at certain gas stations, diesel is around 30 cents more expensive than regular gas, yet at others, it is cheaper than the regular? I don't get it.
  10. The Jets one is so random.
  11. It has to start somewhere. We're probably just spoiled (not the right word) by the fact that every single time we made the playoffs over that 10 or so year span, we were also a superbowl contender. They become associated with each other.
  12. We buy the pretty much the same things each time we're at the store. I have seen the random signs for "buy this and get bonus points", but it's always something stupid like 20 cans of chick peas. The only impulse buy I'll ever make is a bottle of coke at the register (which admittedly is a stupid move). Thank you, I think you finally answered my question. I bought a gift card for my brother while I was there. The receipt didn't give that as my reason, but it had to be it. I'm going to have to keep this in mind for all future gift card purchases. I'll see if they have some signage at the store that mentions the bonus.
  13. Maybe if they tried riding their bikes instead of running...
  14. Their brand in the Boston area (StopnShop) did the gas thing too, but it was very hard to actually find a station that used those points. They don't have stations on the store lot in most places either since space is at a prime there. I did go to their stores as they tended to have the best prices of the options available, but the gas didn't factor in at all there either. I'd hit a station the rare time I found myself in the right area, but most of the time, the points expired.
  15. That 2 out of 15 years is also 2 out of 5 years. That alone blows the other two out of the water. I still can't shake the fact that we have an entire generation of fans now who haven't seen a playoff game. Sports is such a "what have you done for me lately" business, so I'd very gladly take recent Lions years over ours. That and they've got a bit more to fall back on than we do. I know this was specifically football, but I have a hard time separating the rest from it.
  16. I'm not there for the gas rewards. They don't add up quickly enough for it to be worthwhile. We just like the store better. I would like to know how I got the 60 cents though. They give a summary on the receipt, but there was nothing there other than the note that I had earned 60 cents in rewards. We didn't buy anything out of the ordinary. But hey, that one time saving at the pump of around $9 was a nice touch. I'm not so sure I could lower the price on the groceries I bought by that much if I were to shop around.
  17. Keep in mind that lines in trailers aren't always in the movie. That and they can cut together certain scenes to make the trailer say whatever they want it to.
  18. To get me to go to a gas station that I already go to anyway since their price is usually the lowest already?
  19. But you'd gladly take the $4.80 savings you would get from a discount that you have no idea how you actually earned it.
  20. The best part is that there is also a cars for kids and it is a completely different group. I've actually heard a commercial from them once back-to-back with a kars one. I wanted to rip the radio out of my car.
  21. We have one of those supermarkets that gives you a 5 cent discount per gallon of gas for each $100 you spend there. This past weekend during our normal trip to buy groceries, I somehow earned 60 cents off per gallon. I have no idea how that happened, but all I know is that filling up my tank last night for less than $20 was awesome.
  22. I hope these guys wind up hating that character. They spend all this money to dress up as someone they know absolutely nothing about. I kind of want them to be that guy who bought a Leino jersey a couple days after we signed him.
  23. I know how their history looks, but I don't think Detroit should be included in the same list as those two teams right now. They've at least made the playoffs a handful of times in recent years. They're at least one rung above both Buffalo and Cleveland on the ladder of suck. And I don't know why this came to mind this morning, but I think it is a great example of why the Buffalo Bills are the Buffalo Bills. Over his career, Drew Bledsoe lost his starting job to three different QBs...
  24. Is she actually doing anything right now though? All we ever hear about is where she used to work, apparently 10 years ago.
  25. I saw it earlier too. The big one is Jankowski. For some reason I thought he was only in his third year.
