For me, it really comes down to this. I believe in the 1st and 4th lines. If Simmonds/Kahun can wake up one of those middle two lines, they can continue on their run. And let's face it, as long as Hutton is in net, this team is going to need some extra goals.

82 games played last year. 50 out of 61 this year. I guess the question is if those 11 games missed came in multiple blocks or if it was a one time thing.

It's too bad that they don't have any games left with Toronto. That's the easiest way to close a gap. They do have one with Florida, so there's at least one level of control when it comes to catching them. They do have two games with Carolina. Even though most are focusing on Toronto, that's another team they're chasing, granted there's such a log jam in that WC race. They can certainly make things interesting if they decide to keep playing good hockey.

And it's another fine example of why the "never trade within your division" idea is pure garbage. The Rangers are making a big push, 4 points out of the wild card (Carolina), and they make this trade. They clearly didn't get the memo.
