  1. Past hour
  2. Picked Ehlers because he seemed to represent the “really good 2nd-liner” level that represents the low end of the peer group. Another way of saying it would be “you score 25-30 goals at 21 and the odds look really good you’re going to continue doing that, or better, throughout your career.” (Which we should keep in mind with Dylan Cozens, who hit 31). The question with Peterka is really “how much can he grow?” His skate/shoot combo is high-end. His compete and vision seem good. His consistency and details need work. He had 25 even-strength goals, that was good for 19th in the entire NHL last year. Leon Draisaitl had 20, Stamkos 21, McDavid 24.
  3. There is a chance he is telling the truth even if pedantic. And if that is the case who are the 10 candidates he talked to if Berube is not on the list? Half the coaches in the league are off the list because they are all still coaching in the playoffs and would need permission to interview. So the list likely starts off like this. 1. Ruff 2. Appert 3. Gallant (one would hope but apparently nobody called Berube) 4. Matt Ellis (I am not joking) 5. Carle (maybe, but also maybe not?) 5-10: ?????
  4. Has literally nothing to do with the conversation or what happened last night at all.
  5. JJP exceeded my expectations for this season. I knew he was going to be good eventually, but I didn't realize it would be this soon. They really knocked it out of the park with those first two picks of the 2020 draft. Two players that will likely be 30+ goal scorers (and they aren't just goal scorers, they both bring other traits to the table!).
  6. What does that have to do with last night?
  7. I listened for a sports update while driving my wife to work. What I heard from one of their morning people was a meltdown over KC getting Worthy. Somehow, Bills were supposed to block it ? That was his insane point. Sounded like a grade school kid throwing a fit, void of logic. Hmm..what if they are inquiring about Brandon Aiyuk of San Fran or Tee Higgins of Cinci ? That's bringing on another big contract ala Diggs. How could they work that ?
  8. Beating the Bills in the playoffs and winning Super Bowls, that's what the Chiefs do. Hard not to care about those. 😉
  9. Your perception of what a typical 4th line forward produces is off from reality (wildly off). Something around 500 forwards suited up for NHL games this year. If you are 201st in EVP you are not a 4th liner. I do agree with your earlier point though, that Benson should not have been in the NHL this season. It is my view. Not because he wasn’t capable. Indeed, he proved himself most capable of being a good middle 6 player. I am super excited about what he already brings and will bring to the team in the future. The reason he shouldn’t have been in the NHL is that the Sabres were in a must win year (see: Granato, Don: Fired). Teams that are in must win years and that are already young and inexperienced and that have millions of dollars in cap space don’t go into camp leaving a spot open for the forward prospect who shows the best. That’s what established veteran winning playoff teams do when they have an open spot and no cap space to bring in a veteran. Of course, this is not the point of this thread. It isn’t Benson’s issue that we don’t operate like a normal NHL team. I am thrilled that we have this kid.
  10. Until I was 10 years old we had a black and white tv with 13 channels on the dial. No real antenna on the roof. Only received 2 channels - CTV and CBC. There was only one hockey night in Canada and it was Saturday night. I spent every Saturday night listening and watching HNIC - only the first period. I spent my Saturday nights with Bob Cole. He was fantastic. In late 1974 (about a month or so after my 10th birthday) we got a colour TV - one of those that are a giant piece of furniture that took up a whole corner of the rec room. A tall antenna two with a rotor on it so we could aim it south and pick up channels 2, 4 and 7 (and very rarely 29) from Buffalo. I still lived for HNIC and Bob Cole - by that time I could watch the second period too. Bob was a part of my life until adulthood. He and Danny Gallivan in Montreal were the best ever on HNIC. They rank only behind RJ and just a little bit ahead of Mike Lange in Pittsburgh. Not sure who I would have fifth, but I think I would have to go with Tom Cheek of 'Touch 'em all Joe' fame. Interesting note: Bob was from St. John's on the tropical island of Newfoundland. One of the only Newfs that one does not need a translator to understand - I love Newfs and Newfoundland. Danny Gallivan was from Sydney, NS.
  11. I'm sorry, I just don't care what the Chiefs do.
  12. I’d rather package our first with one or more of our young players and prospects to get someone better than anyone on that list. Whoever gets the best player in the present almost always wins the trade. I don’t give any about how much it could potentially hurt our team in five years from now. We are losers now, it’s not like we can be downgraded to super losers. We’d have hit that status years ago.
  13. I don’t think KA cares about optics. I don’t know what Terry said to him but he sounded like a different guy after firing meatballs. He sounded confident in that press conference that he knew who his guy is. The same guy he knows very well and worked under. He wanted Ruff from before the moment he fired Donnie. If that’s his ride or die I’m fine he didn’t mess around and got who he wanted. The results from this are squarely on KA now though. If this doesn’t work we will be looking at a Gm search in 2 years or less.
  14. Today
  15. He’s definitely not Tyreek, but that’s not saying he wont be good necessarily. Imo, he has boom or bust written all over him.
  16. You wonder why some of these guys don’t have credibility. If true, either Berube said no to an interview or Adams just BSed everyone and only talked to Ruff. Either way I don’t care but the larger optics aren’t great.
  17. Maybe he is Tyreek, maybe he’s Mecole. The Bills couldn’t afford to take a chance at a 165 lbs WR when they absolutely need at starter. There are still a half dozen guys they can plug in immediately. They’ll get one if not two of them today.
  18. This is the point the whining little children on WGR keep missing. KC was gonna get Worthy, anyway. It sucks the trade was with KC, but in the final analysis, it really doesn’t matter.
  19. Sam had a muffin of a shot his first year or two. Gilmour was like a dog on a bone.
  20. Wow, I didn’t think he was in such good company. Lindy will like his fast, attack on the rush game. I hope he ends up a bit better than Ehlers. Ehlers is good but always seems to leave me wanting more.
  21. Then there is this 🤣. I am nothing if not entertained.
  22. I’m thrilled. To gain all the assets and still get their guy would be great. If they want ThaHonky at 33, I’m good. Cooper DeJean has McDermott written all over him though.
  23. From ESPN Text from a non-Bills scout: “Trading back to 33 (for Buffalo) is super smart. Now they have all day tomorrow to try and trade for Tee Higgins or one of the 49ers wideouts”
