  2. Are you including Ruff in your assessment of the staff? And if you believe that Ruff is satisfied with the staff because he made no changes to the group, then isn't he the most culpable for its mediocre performance? And as you pointedly note, the same shiiiit goes on game after game. Well, if the HC is tolerating the sub-par staffing performance, then shouldn't he be held most responsible for the coaching inadequacies? What's apparent to everyone is that the ownership is third rate, the GM is third rate and the coaching staff is third rate. That's not a recipe for success!
  3. Today
  4. What you don’t thing Kesselring and Timmins will solve all our D problem? What type of fan are u?
  5. True, the assistants don't dictate the system. But they're the ones actually working with the players and they're the ones implementing the drills that the players use to learn where they're supposed to be and how they're supposed to play when the games actually happen. Guarantee that in practice they aren't correcting the D and the F's when they allow somebody to be alone at the back door nor missing somebody sneaking down from up high where the F's are covering to down low where the D are expected to cover. Why? Because that #### happens multiple times every game. Guarantee that they're teaching them that stupid nearly 100' drop pass on the PP. Why? Because THAT #### happens every game and Power insists on it even when a F has snuck behind him anticipating the drop pass. Rather than react to the situation as it evolves, they continue to do what they've been taught to do. The ONLY guy that DOESN'T ALWAYS make that stupid drop pass is Dahlin. He does it until the other team starts cheating and then he takes the easy 4 on 3 entry that he's now been given. (And that stupidity on the PP goes back to what's being said about what they do on D; it's just way easier to describe without having a video example to accompany it. This coaching staff is awful.)
  6. I like big. I like big, skilled, and tough even better. Hoping to see more physically presence and toughness to go with the height.
  7. Structure and system is ultimately dictated by the head coach. Assistant coaches assist with design and implementation they don't dictate it. The most obvious recent example here was when offensive assistant Granato took over for Krueger and dramatically changed the way the team played.
  8. That’s a while different argument. And Willis points out that the numbers are actually inflated by lesser used players so EROD only balances it out. Florida only proves that it’s not all about size. Like LGRM says, teams are drafting bigger defenseman but it still hasn’t manifested itself with the leagues elite.
  9. Awesome. They could win the charity basketball tourney.
  10. My original OP was a reference to the increase in the wholesale price of vegetables specifically. The article I linked discussed other aspects of the PPI. I wasn’t trying to mislead anyone. Regardless, the rise in wholesale prices is a cause for concern by those who monitor these matrices as my second linked article indicated.
  11. I think most agree that both need drastic overhaul. I am not as well versed in the structures in ice so been doing a bit of “studying”. Came across this video. Makes for rather depressing watching. But highlights some of the things we can see in game. If outsiders can read this from the sabres, why can’t the coaching team!?? Sabres are a disaster video
  12. I’m no expert on NHL coaching. My understanding though, is that generally the system or structure that a team uses is the preferred structure of the head coach and that the implementation is a shared responsibility with the assistants. Last year when Ruff spoke out about Cozens and Thompson struggling, he didn’t say that they are struggling with Wilford’s system, he said they are struggling with what he asks centres to do in his system.
  13. He has to play nice. You really believe Putin when he said "If Trump was president in 2020 there would be no war."
  14. Proving only that these stats mean nothing. Third "lightest"? Florida was obviously brought down by E-Rod being there 🙂 Owen Power's 97 kg. Sam Bennett's 91 kg. Who you got in that battle? Strength, fortitude, compete, and general nastiness do not show up in the stats. They do however, mean everything on the ice.
  15. It seems the tone of this thread is different than president Zelenskyy. We had a long and substantive conversation with @POTUS We started with one-on-one talks before inviting European leaders to join us. This call lasted for more than an hour and a half, including about an hour of our bilateral conversation with President Trump. Ukraine reaffirms its readiness to work with maximum effort to achieve peace. President Trump informed about his meeting with the Russian leader and the main points of their discussion. It is important that America’s strength has an impact on the development of the situation. We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the USA, and Russia. Ukraine emphasizes that key issues can be discussed at the level of leaders, and a trilateral format is suitable for this. On Monday, I will meet with President Trump in Washington, D.C., to discuss all of the details regarding ending the killing and the war. I am grateful for the invitation. It is important that Europeans are involved at every stage to ensure reliable security guarantees together with America. We also discussed positive signals from the American side regarding participation in guaranteeing Ukraine’s security. We continue to coordinate our positions with all partners. I thank everyone who is helping.
  16. Ruff is the HC. If the assistant coach is constructing a system that isn't working, then isn't it the HC's obligation to intervene and require an adjustment? The same responsibility applies to the system on the PP and kill units. If the system isn't working, then he is the one that should require a change/alteration in systems. If the assistant is so inadequate, then why wasn't he replaced this year. There is a hierarchy of responsibility here. If the HC isn't satisfied with the performance of a particular assistant, then he has the authority to replace him. Or does he really have that authority to make the change/s? HCs have different styles of coaching. Some are dominant in all phases of the game and others are delegators. Each coach has a system they are comfortable in. But let's not forget that ultimately the assistants are accountable to the HC. If the HC is comfortable with the status quo, then the problem lies with the HC. That's how I see it.
  17. Historically, he does bug/defect triage and works only the priority fix, rather than manage the entire deployment, which is his role. His product is under budget. But he’s never reached a milestone and hasn’t deployed a product (to playoffs/market). At some point you’d think the investors would wonder where all their dollars have gone to.
  18. Yes, but your original post was a reference to the PPI was it not? And the point being that there are other times in history, not under Trump, when the PPI was higher, much higher in fact. The point you did not acknowledge is that a percentage increase is often used as a misleading way to make something sound more relevant than it would be if looking at the actual numbers involved. In this case, the increase is significant, but the actual number is below what it has been many times prior and under a different administration. The economy is still messed up and it has been messed up. COVID messed it up pretty good and it's not stabilized itself yet. The significant changes in administrative direction have only exacerbated those issues.
  19. Anyone smarter than a 5 year old could have see the second-order consequences of legalizing sports betting.
  20. What I would like to see are those troops telling Trump to stuff it. It is indeed a sad day and absolutely disgusting that a man who should be arrested the moment he leaves Russia is not only allowed into the United States but then has American military bowing to him to roll out a red carpet. I have to wonder just what all those red state, military supporting people feel about these particular actions.
  21. I don't think it should be as dismissed as that phrase. This era of entitlement hasn't always been so severe. It should really be no surprise that there trend continues to grow where everyone believes the world is suppose to confirm to them. Despite Burger King's marketing ads, you can't even always get it your way at BK. There are limits. The growing trend of people being disconnected from reality is disturbing. The ease with which people just harass others because of their own failures is ridiculous. But, everyone wants company when they are at the bottom and it's easier to tear down others than build yourself up. The problem is that we allow it and lord knows given the connected world status it's easy enough to find a group that supports the behavior to allow even greater justification.
  22. Who do you think is? I mean, he's the consistency between Granato and Ruff. His coaching is what allows opponents to stand between the defender and goaltender, consistently. And yeah, we can go back through different coaches, etc. I'm not interested in dissecting the pre-Kevyn Adams era as the team is barely the same. Right now there are a lot of issues but if you start from a broken foundation it won't matter who the players are because it's going to fall down.
  23. I’m not sure about “60 game starter”, but I think it is abundantly clear that Adams was certain Levi would be his starting goalie by now. When asked prior to 23-24 about whether Levi needed AHL time he was rather dismissive and referred to Levi as “special”. They then gave Levi four straight, mostly ineffective, starts to begin that season; there is no question in my mind that he believed Levi was his starting goalie two years ago. I think this ties in to my point. Adams hasn’t been able to address multiple loose ends at one time. He, largely, focuses on one element and seems caught off guard when another issue inevitably rises.
  24. Interesting hypothesis. Where does goaltending acquisition fit? Really it’s just Levi, right? And if he thought that was sufficient then he must have had supreme confidence is in tenure as a GM, because that was over 4 years ago. And, there was no path to Devon being a 60 game starter by now. Did he lose focus too quickly?
  25. So in a league-wide basketball tournament made up of each team's defenseman, we just need a point guard? Or is that why Kevyn keeps Bryson around? It would explain it, at least.
  26. I think it is clearly intentional. I think it does matter, but it can be hard to follow the logic. Adams seems to become focused on a certain area or trait related to asset acquisition, rather than focus on acquiring a collection of traits that will equate to a successful team. He started with acquiring picks, then the focus was on skilled forwards, an insistence on building out the pipeline, then it became tall defensemen, then upgrading the 4th line, then being tougher to play against, and now tall AND right-handed defensemen. Perhaps this is the year where he has finally put together the needed combination of skill, toughness, and experience that equates to a playoff level team. It seems there are more conventional ways to do this.
