I agree. If Adams keeps Reinhart and Eichel and Ullmark we would be a lot better. Imagine if Norris is out for a long stretch. He was one of the better players tonight. He is glass.

Well, Adams has that going for him. Which is nice. Montreal may also be decent again this season with another year of experience under their belts. They could get the goal differential to even.

Good defense and goaltending. PP is garbage. PK looked good. Doan and Danforth look like nice additions. This was a game where the offensive weapons should have found a way but they failed. Fanbase is tired and management doesn’t care enough to make meaningful changes. I said I’d give them October though.

I'm just going to copy and paste this from the game day thread... And there it is. Judgement is in: If Norris can't get to 50 games played, their center depth is McLeod (a 2-3) and Kulich (still too young to be sure exactly, but 2 ceiling). That's going to lead to where they were last season -- which was 5th from last for much of the year until the other teams started exclusively playing backup goalies against them. That's good news at least. Strength & Conditioning switch should have included team medical staff.

It looked like Norris hurt himself on a faceoff. No contact, he was holding his ribs on the bench. I’d say he pulled a muscle on his side. I’ve done it, it feels like you’ve been stabbed. Hopefully it’s not serious.

The concept of the Sabres played well and still lost 4 - 0 in their home opener with literally no physical contact st all is a joke ... this team is what they have always been ... a bunch of soft puss@#s that will never compete in this league... you like what you saw awesome... I didnt ... I saw what I habe watched the last 15 years nothing changes until pegula sells the team because he will likely give adams a 100 million 2 year extension because he just loved what he saw... because scoring even 1 goal in your home opener sucks... but people think this is awesome.... great for you... this team is soft non competitive and an embarrassment to anyone who has ever been employed at a job in their lives... their children should hide in shame they are so bad

The Sabres certainly don't have a player who gets the puck and the opposition immediately backs off and says "uh oh." You can tell yourself it's Thompson, but most teams know that when he gets the puck in transition you have to attack him immediately because his gangly frame prevents him from a lot of nifty transition touches or dekes.

I'm going to withhold judgement on the Norris injury until Ruff says "upper body injury and he'll miss some time". Then, I'll be upset. For now, there's no reason to worry. Because I've got a glass of gin.

This is exactly correct. We did end up doing some good work and getting shots on goal but I really can’t recall one actual dangerous chance. We just don’t have the juice.
