  1. Past hour
  2. Jarmo took a role that could not have been attractive to elite GM candidates. Promoting him to the role would be typical lazy decision making. If they truly want to shift the culture and/or build credibility, I think this supposed big move needs to be announcing Kevyn’s new boss - Buffalo’s version of Jeff Gorton. Empower this person to make subsequent changes. The first being selecting GM. Sure maybe Jarmo is a candidate. But taking this advisory title should not be a direct line to GM.
  3. You remember all the Pitt people telling Pegula to tank, but beleive they somehow weren't behind getting Regier punted when he was too good at it. Murray walked the fine line of being JUST bad enough that next year to finish dead last, and keep the team watchable. He did exactly what they wanted that next year. And, btw, IF Regier was doing exactly what ownership & advisors wanted, why fire Rolston too when giving Regier his "golden parachute?"
  4. I don’t see anything happening until after the reunion game
  5. Candidly I don’t understand the extremity of the stances we see so often when it comes to Adams and GM in general “nothing will change” You may not be aware but I personally don’t like Kevyn Adams as GM. Maybe it’s slipped through the cracks. I think he’s one of the worst GMs I’ve seen - but even THIS man came one point short of the playoffs 3 years ago. The idea there’s a magical unsurpassable barrier *right there* is absurd. “Pegula GMS can demonstrably only get to one point short of the playoffs.” Of course that’s not true. There is no logical way to say or explain why a better GM than Adams couldn’t gain a couple more points in the standings the sabres won. Our expectations are incredibly low. They did it- we only need the bare minimum to be satisfied. The rub is that they haven’t done even that. The hope is that it remains imminently attainable Adams is a relatively *bad GM*, folks. He almost made the playoffs here. YES one improvement to the front can make a difference. Of course it can. With this franchise and its fans it can make all the difference in the world
  6. Remember all the Pitt people Terry had hanging around. The plan clearly was to be awful, so awful they would land the next Crosby.
  7. With his time rumored to be coming to a close, what was GMKA’s worst of the worst? There’s a lot to choose from.
  8. In the spring Darcy said ownership would determine the extent of the rebuild. He also cited Minny as the right way to rebuild. There's no way he was fired for doing too good (bad) a job at tearing things down. To be clear I think Darcy saw the lay of the land and got a golden parachute for his service.
  9. As you noted, Paul Hamilton is not noted for harsh or controversial commentary. I like him but in general his style is reasonable and bland. However, on the topic of the competency of KA, even the blind can see. It was absurd for the aloof owner to hire KA to be his GM, and it is even more absurd to keep him on the job for so long.
  10. We also need a roster move to happen before this game, Id assume the easy move is Ellis to IR I doubt Lindy changes the lines after a win, unless Norris cant go again. Id like to see Kuntar in for Dunne I hope Lyon starts, but am fully expecting it to be UPL
  11. OK I would agree but we have no idea what his real role is in decisions and if he was an Adams choice or Pegula choice. If he was a Terry choice I would be a little more confident that he is atleast starting to take things more seriously. But if Jarmo becomes GM and is handcuffed by having to make Appert coach then nothing will change.
  12. But then he follows with this. 🤷‍♂️
  13. The very same.
  14. The problem is this organization hasn’t done a “real search” for a GM or coach in 6 years. More than just firing people, they have to actually do the work to find quality people, not just lackeys that have charmed Pegula in a conversation.
  15. Levi Ellis Lyon
  16. “but noooooooooooot out!” infinitely watchable.
  17. I remember that vividly. I was living in Chicago at the time, but coming into Buffalo that weekend with a good friend of mine. It was his first trip to Buffalo and his first Sabres game. We had great seats, etc. and were really looking forward to it. I always liked to bring friends to Buffalo for Bills & Sabres games, as they are always impressed by how much fun the city is. Obviously, the game was postponed. Now I bring my kids....
  18. Wasn’t Gareth the guy who lost his job with Glasgow for trying to sign an alleged rapist? Maybe he learned his lesson and has grown?
  19. It was beyond awful. If they didn't dump Rolston there would've been a mass revolt. They were 4-15-1 and they weren't as good as the record indicated. It was flat out unwatchable. They couldn't get the puck out of their own end. Nolan got them to at least play hockey. And even though they did they still finished about 20 points out of 2nd last place in the league.
  20. Sounds like Demko will be back for this one, get ready for 1-0 Vancouver win, Demko shutout
  21. Prediction and I hope I’m wrong. POHO: Jarmo (remote) GM: Karmanos (remote) Hockey Ops unchanged with some additional emphasis on analytics. Coaching staff finishes the year.
  22. Adams is *the* symbol for lack of accountability. I think the ripple effects down through the organization of his firing (especially as things get increasingly rank and file) can be notable - depending on how long they wait. Simply not extending his contract sends much less impactful a message than firing him when you don’t strictly have to Adams was hired under the mandate of improving culture - ironically it appears the only way Adams is capable of positively affecting culture is through his axing
  23. I took a look at X and BlueSky. No one else is saying anything. So whatever Jeremy has it's an exclusive.
  24. I hope the Sabres win 12-0 and Adams gets his ass kicked to the curb tonight.
