I thought they did play Helenius at center last year

I'm curious as to how they're going to line up at centre ice. I think Osltund is inked as the 1C and Leschsyshyn and Dunne should get two of the other spots. But will Kozak be there as a 3rd defensive centre? Will Savage be the 4C if Kozak makes the Sabres? Or will Wahlberg or Helenius be moved back to the middle? I'm hoping its Helenius and he and Östlund take turns leading the offence.

OT:Golisano donating $50M to what will become Golisano Children's Hospital.
JohnC replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
The point I made about the scouting issue is that from a broad perspective it wasn’t a major factor why this franchise has struggled for nearly a generation. I strongly believe thst Golisano would have hired better hockey staff and allowed them to do their jobs. And I’m sure he would have held them accountable for their performance. -
Geertsen Savage Kuntar Joshua Looks to me like they agreed that the team was a soft and too easy to play against last year. They've re-built the bottom 6 into a much more physical group. Meyer and Leschyshyn are also more complete players and not as one dimensional as the guys they've had previously.

15K and they are done? Here is some Dad-like advice, you probably already know this stuff but maybe you get something from it. I once bought a set of Michelin's that lasted only 20k before I took them off due to bad performance and wear. I did all the right maintenance. The guy at the dealership said they could have been dry rotting by setting in their storage for awhile so he gave me half the money back towards another set. I hope you get some compensation back for the poor performance. Good tire maintenance: - check alignment and do a front end alignment if needed every time you put new tires on. - Check inflation of tires to proper levels periodically, especially important when seasons change as external temps effect the tire pressure. This helps gas mileage and reduces the chance of bad wear. - check tire balance and rotate your tires every 12,000 miles, or every other oil change, so they wear evenly. - Make sure your shocks/struts are good, they will slowly degrade so once you get 60K to 100K miles on them. Over 100K and they are probably not doing the job to full performance but they still could be good. Problem is you get used to them, making it harder to detect when they are marginal.

One of these things is not like the other. I know I had to Google it because those 6 NHl games for Kuntar don’t really stick out in my mind.

July 1st 2007. Two of the best players walk after a 113 point season. Like Pimlach I am grateful he saved the team and what he has done for this area of New York but as long term owner I don't think we would have been better off. -

He demanded they’d be good but then cut them off at the knees. Personally, I have no issue with his ownership. He was a means to an end. Unfortunately that next step didn’t go well. -
All valid concerns and I have shared them myself. I wonder how much of "experience" is age, how much is in-game NHL experience, pro hockey experience, practice repetition, mental maturity, physical maturity, exposure to and comfort with NHL routine and lifestyle...so many variables. But there is no doubt this group needs more experience.

So in addition to Brian Savage's son, they'll have Curtis Leschyshyn's son, and Les Kuntar's son? Leschyshyn was a Nordique in 1994, otherwise it could've been a full 1994 Habs kids reunion.

Yes. However, Golisano demanded the organization be successful. I think that is 100% of the difference in the two eras. No. Golisano implemented video scouting. It was all done while Regier was GM. Pegula actually reversed it. -

JohnC replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
I'm not sure that is the case. I believe that change in scouting happened under Pegula. But that isn't the primary reason why the franchise has struggled. The owner hasn't done a good job in hiring staff to run the hockey operation. The hiring of KA made little sense and the process to hire Ruff was a charade. I'm not discussing whether Ruff is a good HC or not. What I can say is that the hiring process was not a serious process for a critical position. - Today

That initial much maligned move to video scouting, it was done under his watch, wasn’t it? -
Yesterday during a bath, my 3 year old put a wash cloth over his face, said “waterboard coming up!”, and then poured a cup of water over his face. I knew I was onto something when I originally wanted to name him Jack Bauer Shrader.

I believe that although Golisano was not much interested in hockey, he would have been much more adept at hiring staff to more competently run the franchise. I do agree with you that Golisano wouldn't have been inclined to injudiciously spend a lot of money on the franchise. But as an astute businessman, he would have had the foresight to recognize that in assembling a competitive team he would have generated more revenue and have a more self-sustaining business instead of debasing the product and causing the withering of the fanbase. I want to emphasize that I'm specifically directing my comments toward the current owner's stewardship of the hockey franchise and not to his other activities. I strongly believe that this hockey market, that includes southern Ontario area, is a strong hockey market. It has been laid to waste by less than stellar management. That's a shame. -
Dahlin: 509games, experienced veteran defender Bryson: 254games, moderately experienced defender Byram: 246games, moderately experienced defender Power: 242games, moderately experienced defender Samuelsson: 212games, moderately low experienced defender Timmins: 159games, low experienced defender Kesselring: 156games, low experienced defender Jones: 115games, barely experienced defender There is one veteran defender in that room and it is Dahlin. I would say that 350-400 games on defense makes you a veteran experienced defender. 200-250 games brings you to at least a level of "knows some stuff" and below 200 you are still somewhat unknown and still learning. The fact the Sabres are entering the year with Jacob Bryson as their 2nd most experienced defender is insane. I suppose we could argue that Byram is that because this isn't counting playoff games (273 total games). Power is right in that mix too but basically Power, Samuelsson are all 1-2 years away from getting into that veteran savvy level of player. Timmins and Kesselring are 3 years from that level of player. Also the only guys with playoff experience are Byram and Timmins. I think the defense core has talent but I think it is very raw in terms of experience and it is lead by subpar coaching. I would love to be higher on them and might be next offseason when Byram is in the 300game zone, Power is in the 300 game zone, Kesselring and Timmins are in that mid 200 zone. Samuelsson is traded to IDC where and Bryson isn't on the roster.

Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson attending US Olympic Team orientation camp
Pimlach replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Agree. Look at my list of top US born goal scorers. Thompson is right up there. Is Thompson's 2 way game any worse than Conner or Robertson or Debrincat? I say no to that. Tuch and a center like Larkin would make very good bottom 6 players for the USA. They need the right balance of top skill and gritty two way play. USA v Canada will be an amazing game. -
Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson attending US Olympic Team orientation camp
dudacek replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
It will be interesting. Debrincat wasn’t invited, Robertson wasn’t on the 4 Nations team and Conner was benched 4 nations, so USAHockey may like those guys less than you do. I think Tage is U.S.A.’s 2nd best scorer and Tuch exactly the type I’d want in my bottom 6 so they’d be on my team🤷 But Ill be rooting for Canada so more Chris Kreisler please.
