  1. Past hour
  2. That is accurate, it was the COVID year where the money seemingly dried up
  3. They did for a bit when Eichel and ROR were both under full contracts. They definitely didn't while they were setting up the suffering: https://web.archive.org/web/20140210135404/http://capgeek.com/archive/ $8.7M space in 2012-13 and the infamous $4M to Meszaros to get to the floor in 2014-15. But the purchase/shutdown of capfriendly eliminates the middle years between capgeek and capwages.
  4. Anything these bastards can do to make the country worse, they will do. Anything. And to do it in the name of “efficiency” is pure crap. Cutting programs that actually serve the citizenry and make us safer is antithetical to efficiency because it will end up costing far more than these bull$hit savings they claim.
  5. Good point. I think that’s right.
  6. "Fear of reprisal" is a theme from the Trump white house because they are authoritarian.
  7. Musk and Trumps destruction of NOAA will cost more money than it possibly could have ever saved and more importantly, it's going to cost lives and livelihoods that could have otherwise been saved.
  8. If Laval wins vs Cleveland, Amerks are going to have a tough matchup. One of the few teams that Amerks have struggled against. They were 2-6 vs Laval during the regular season (wins vs losses only, idk what their record is with OT/shootouts etc... but that doesn't really matter in the playoffs anyway)
  9. Love the way the Amerks are playing. This is a team that can destroy any team when they are firing on most cylinders. When they are firing on all??? Forget it. Even if 1/2 of these prospects do not make it to the NHL, they are going to be AHL studs.I can easily see 5 or 6 of them doing very well in the NHL and that includes players like Johnson who has always been a fave of mine. Do not hear his name called often but he plays defensively sound every shift. Definitely could be a great fit for the Sabres soon.
  10. Well, if they named after the classic Nestle Crunch bar, and that candy is actually made in the Syracuse area, then that is legit.
  11. Meanwhile in Buffalo...
  12. What, you’re not a big fan of the superhero Crunch Man? 😂
  13. To misquote Chester Nimitz, "the world wonders"
  14. I've found that it was a fan vote and selected from amongst 5 names (the other 4 I cannot find). The name wasn't related to Nestle Crunch bars, but the Fulton Nestle plant produced most of the Crunch bars at the time, or so said the Crunch President/CEO the https://www.localsyr.com/news/local-news/in-their-own-words-an-oral-history-of-the-syracuse-crunch-early-days/ I think the Crunch is a solid, no-nonsense candy bar. 2nd liner, responsible in all 3 zones.
  15. I remember debating this with you day after draft last year... I did not like the pick.... to this point however, you seem like you were correct.... (I hope he translates, but to this point he would be one of the folks in Roch I am most excited about) so I needed to call that out... that is all....LOL
  16. Moving Cozens was a good start
  17. Today
  18. I don't expect more than Window dressing if anything... I think they take the pig from the corral... toss some lipstick on it... and trot it out as "The Way Forward" ....
  19. I'll take that bet. I'll wager my new racing pod against... an assistant coaching shuffle and a title swap for Adams.
  20. I think this is Lindy's unique value to the franchise at this point in time. He has the earned credibility. It appears that Pegula respects him (and likes him). And, from what I know and have gathered, Lindy is a standup guy. He doesn't suffer fools. He's a straight shooter. And, here's the kicker, he doesn't need the job. He could just retire and focus on fishing (and possibly his golf game? (I know that fishing is a passion for him)). I think Lindy wants to do the right things and see the right things done. And I think Terry would listen to him.
  21. Great to see the Amerks progressing, especially the play of a Levi. Syracuse Crunch. Tampa Uni’s and colors, but a team name that has no relevance to anything.
  22. Tuch is not leaving, he's from Syracuse and grew up a Sabres fan. Said it was a dream and honor to put on a Sabre sweater.
  23. Gotcha, I do think that winning a cup or consistently contending is good for the brand and if the brand improves likely so does the value... however, winning the cup one year and then returning to dysfunction for 10 years... probably doesnt help much no... So, Sabres shock the world win the cup and then return to ignomy immediately after probably not helping... yet, the Canadiens who havent won it in forever, have this brand and this history that propels their value... so to your point winning the cup alone isnt going to re brand you.. there needs to be some consistency and history... and then obviously financials and potential revenue etc come in to significant play..
  24. Great take. He plays with courage. I can’t say the same of many Sabres players.
  25. Watching Östlund these past 3 games, I’m starting to wonder if his future is Ryan McLeod. Hasn’t produced but he’s fast and very responsible and you notice him every shift. Had a really impressive partial breakaway chance snuffed by what looked to me like a penalty, that was all hustle. Kulich hasn’t outright dominated, but he has been the most dangerous guy on the ice. His speed has flashed more than I’m used to and he’s had his chances. Wahlberg looked kinda sluggish last night in his first game. Hope it was just shaking off the bug. Novikov played to his rep. The Crunch were trying to get to the net, but the Amerks were holding up against it and Novikov was a big part. Johnson was quietly very good. You don’t notice him outright, then you realize shift after shift goes by without any chances given up. He’s in the right spots and preventing. Komorov was most noticeable to me for his awkward skating style. He competes. Rosen always leaves me wanting more. He was better in games 2 and 3 after a rough game 1. He’s usually in the right places both ends and has very obvious skill. I just wish he completed more plays and engaged more. Kozak is responsible fearless and he battles. Prototype checking centre at that level. And if this seems overly positive, I just watched them play 8 periods in a row without allowing a goal. Their structure as a group was excellent.
