  1. Past hour
  2. I can't say I've seen many Thunderbird games on FloHockey, but his stats (.920sv%) and awards (Springfield Team MVP) and the way Blues fans are grousing over losing him, tell me he's worth a claim. At 25 it's time see what he can do in the bigs.
  3. It's just when I read screeds like yours, followed by "I hope I'm wrong," I wonder if that's true. it's like the guy who calls WGR and says he's not demanding anyone be fired, but then reads a laundry list of grievances with Sean McDermott and/or Brandon Beane.
  4. Have you seen him play? What type of goalie is Ellis?
  5. You may not be aware of it but you were with your response. That's okay. I'm not bothered by it.
  6. I seriously doubt there was any actual plan, or trap that was set, to get Ellis. But having two goalies that thrive in the same system has to be an advantage. Unless you’ve installed the wrong system for them…..
  7. As if you need another reason. Grabbing Ellis is the kind of move you often advocate for; pouncing when talent ends up on the waiver wire.
  8. I mean, they did acknowledge the challenges of seeing pucks in traffic when you can’t see over or around the players in front of you. That doesn’t absolve taller guys who just don’t have the reflexes or instincts. It just means taller guys scouting reports identify reflexes and instincts as drawbacks.
  9. Aren’t they making tickets really cheap to entice people?
  10. I could only imagine if another team picked up Ellis on waivers. That team would have been soooo much smarter than the Sabres.
  11. Am I though?
  12. I believe he could be at least solid. His AHL number are very good. The real question is will they give him a chance to start? His AHL numbers are certainly better than UPL's ever were with a 2.63 & a 9.22 last season.
  13. If you get a 10 game flex pack you get the home opener game for free. Smart move by the Sabres to fill the building up and get more people excited for the season.
  14. Might have been a smart move by Ducks waiting this long waiving Husso. He is a goalie that I expect to have a bounce back season if he get the chance. Really frustrating this Sabres goalie cirkus right now. Husso had been great. Don’t know anything about this Ellis, just hoping we once would be lucky. At leasy they have done a good job with their goaltenders in StLouis.
  15. Why is the league opener at 5PM when it is a weeknight? The NHL can never get out of its own way.
  16. Regardless of where the bar is, if he’s better than that, the team has just improved within the last 24 hours. I really hope that no one chimes in to say that he was claimed more than 24 hours ago.
  17. I disagree that with a more astute GM it would take 3 to 4 years to break through the perpetual funk. If a new GM added a credible goaltender, that in itself would put this team in such a better position to succeed. There are enough solid players and young players with upside on this team to make it a playoff qualifying team if it had the right backstop/s. Why is it that a GM for Washington Capitals can bring in goalies for a miniscule price while our GM has never adequately been able to satisfactorily address the position? The GM placed his bet on UPL to be the anchor goalie. I have no problem with that. However, he never had an adequate backup play just in case it didn't work out. That's an example of his poor judgment. He's a checkers player in a game of chess.
  18. Remain? I thought that was the expected attendance
  19. I get that it might be better to be taller/bigger to cover more net. But in the past 5 years or so...Shesterkin and Saros have been pretty darn good goalies at right about 6 feet tall also.
  20. If they’re playing in junior, they don’t cost against the 50 contracts. Wasn’t there the suggestion at some point that Ratzlaff could go back as an overager? I have no idea if that’s possible or in the cards at all. I’ll still stick with my original thought on Georgiev. Let’s see if he reports now.
  21. Probably could run a better powerplay
  22. It is kind of wild that you simultaneously just described Devon Levi.
  23. Well, he's apparently not Toronto's best goalie by far, because he was just cut. I guess the Sabres can sign him if they want more below-average goaltending on the team.
  24. The opening night goalies are going to be Lyon and Ellis. Your opening night D includes Bryson, Johnson, Timmins and Samuelsson in a top 4 slots. What could possibly go wrong?
  25. Wow, Brawndo, I knew this about five hours ago. You're slacking.
  26. It's not that simple (and I think we all know that), but I love this sentiment just the same. Down, boy. Down. You know better. VERY true. I often take the light rail as part of my commute home on game nights. I venture that not a single person I see getting on the train headed downtown has ever been on this message board. I envy them.
