Getting dinged with extra penalties is common with any bigger kid in minor hockey. If it was in his DNA he could easily regain some edge. I don’t see it as race based although I guarantee there are people whose motivation to cut health care is based on race. Just because their motivation is wrong doesn’t mean mine is. It’s hard to help others if you can’t help yourself. It’s hard to help non citizens if aren’t doing the very best we can to help our own. Regardless of skin color.

There is nothing they could do. That’s like asking what could the 9-11 victims have done to make themselves a more hard target. IMO using the NC shooting to justify the issue of personal security as not being cut and dry and in the same post talking about people not wanting to lock their doors is wrong. It’s conflating personal security vs common crime with a mass shooting involving a highly irregular method compared to historic mass shootings. The idea of fear and paranoia being subjective I also don’t completely agree with but am open to discussing further. I think the world gives us a baseline of common crimes both violent and non violent to include situations where risk is higher. Something like a thief breaking into a house can be mitigated by locking doors. There is still residual risk and if someone is inclined, can be mitigated further. At some point the remaining risk (likelihood and severity) becomes acceptable because not doing so would be the definition of paranoid.

Just because they are skating doesn't mean they are good to go for opening night. Samuelsson was designated as week to week for a reason. Hopefully they'll all be in the lineup opening night, but don't count on it.

Well there's the major issue here. Nothing happens to you until it does. It's realistically about probability versus possibility. Fear and paranoia are subjective and it becomes difficult to judge others for the levels they go to. We are products of our experiences. I've been robbed while working a job. I had a shotgun put up to my chest so I could feel the barrel. I didn't "plan" for that and I still don't. I don't walk around expecting it to happen. It's highly improbable. Now, if I were in certain areas I would be more aware. Similarly I would be less concerned in other areas. It's because it's less probable. Your take on locking doors is your opinion. It is an easy thing to do, certainly. But some people would tell you that if they felt they had to lock their doors then it would change the way they feel about where they live. If they feel that way, then they don't want to be there any longer. It's not so cut and dry. Do you find it odd that you are the only one in this forum who makes these wild allegations towards others? These are the types of things unhinged people say. I've mentioned this about you before. You engage in the same behaviors that you often call out about others. It's concerning really. I'm barely interested in paying for kid right now who seems to have adopted McDonald's as his go to. And that's exactly why I am not in favor of it. Funding other people's bad habits is not an interest of mine. I want people to have access to healthcare, 100%. But our culture is one that doesn't take into account personal responsibility. So, we end up funding healthcare for people who continually make bad choices. Is it racism? I don't think healthcare for illegals is a racist discussion. I think it's about asking why we would pay the healthcare for someone who is not a citizen of the country. I wouldn't expect Spain to pay for my healthcare. ICE was formed in 2003 as a result of the Homeland Security Act. We all know what precipitated that act and it was very much not a one party situation that voted for it. You can't put ICE on this administration. Certainly you can talk about how ICE performs its function in today's administration but it's been around for some time now.

So, providing no new injuries tonight, it looks like the opening night roster would have everyone in it except Kesserling and UPL. The new guy acquired to stabilize the blue-line and the guy who plays probably the single most important position in the sport missing isn't good, but at least it seems to look good for everyone else.
