  1. Past hour
  2. The scary thing is that the plan was thought to possibly be: promote Adams/Lindy once their contract ends, bring in Jarmo and Appert, etc , ... Its only two games but it sure seems like the players might be trying to influence another outcome.
  3. Adams back, every single coach back, and ending up with $3MM in cap space after seeming to not get equal value in the Peterka trade lead to this off-season being extremely disappointing. Then not having Kesselring nor Benson available to start the year and losing Norris before the 1st game was over simply compound it. Lyon actually looking like the Swamp Cat version of himself with all the rest of that, even though it's a pleasant surprise, is simply a waste at this point.
  4. I think I hate this team more than any of the previous iterations. There's no juice. No exciting new player that I am excited to watch. Just nothing. Some of the least inspired, milquetoast, passive nonsense that gives me no hope for this season to be anything but lost
  5. ... he was hospitalized for it Ruff said Wednesday
  6. I knew he took a pick to the face, but jeebus, a week and a half for an infection?
  7. I don't know about the off ice stuff, and you make good points to mention it because it is important. What did he learn from Okposo? That is most likely his blueprint for what an NHL captain looks like. Which gets into how few truly effective veterans our kids have played with. The Sabres blew the whole captain thing when they picked Eichel over ROR in my opinion. As for Dahlin, I can only go by his on-ice effort and his willingness to play hard.
  8. Interesting conversation here on Sabres Twitter. Among other things, Geersten’s installation seems to suggest that Lindy’s lost his grip on coaching in the modern NHL.
  9. He does? How do you think he handled the lockerroom after the first period? After the game with the coach torching the team? What is he doing today? I don't know the answers. I guess I might be surprised.
  10. Took a puck in the face in practice, the cut became infected. Someone posted he could be ready for Ottawa on Wednesday.
  11. Any update on Benson? Did he catch the native flu or is he just allergic to his teammates?
  12. Good points. And if Tuch was still in Vegas, or in Florida or Colorado, he would be a solid contributor, but not a leader or a franchise anchor. Paying him as such in Buffalo would be another error. I would like to keep him at the right price as the team is lacking skilled veterans. I keep saying that Dahlin, Thompson, and Tuch all have to do the things needed to pull this team out of the funk. Dahlin is the only one that consistently shows that leadership attitude.
  13. 20 games tops, and if it’s looking like another playoff -less year, then anyone who has the rot of this team on them and has never won a thing, should be moved along. The problem is our GM will get absolutely torched by his peers.
  14. It’s Tage. He cannot be the culture setter in the room. IMHO.
  15. Lindy would have his usual doghouse players he’d bench for showing up with bad hair. Jason Woolley, and Geoff Sanderson come to mind, while his favorites could do no wrong. Timmy Tin-man, Miro Satan, Richard Smehlik, etc. etc. Ruff was clueless then, as he is now.
  16. The JJ for Kesselring and Doan was a culture trade. Problem is Sabres make just one of these every couple years and think that will fix everything. Cozens for Norris is another one. Problem is Norris can’t stay healthy and Kesselring is injured too. It’s not just canning Adams it has to be a clean sweep. The whole group: Adams, Karmanos, Ellis, Ruff, Appert, Wilford. This team stays with failed leaders and expect a different outcome.
  17. I don’t want Adams making any moves
  18. I just want a lot better. I'm repeating what I said earlier, but rather than that, I'd almost want Adams and the current front office to stay around a bit longer and things get REALLY bad so it puts more pressure on more drastic moves. I really see no reason to make just one move and have the team be 'a little' better and have that translate to a mid-80s point season and another year of mediocrity.
  19. Then we're right where we are now anyways
  20. Certainly when that extension would start next year and take him through his mid-to-late 30's. Not extended at $10m per year at 7-8 years. The deal can't be that big. If he insists on it...then he moves on.
  21. I get it, I do. Its just, what if we get someone 'slightly' better, but that causes nothing else to really get changed with the team, the front office, the roster except 'around the edges'?
  22. For all th back and forth about Terry v Adams and meddling v absent, it's clear Terry groomed Adams for this role. They are in absolute lock step. Theres no side to pick. It's a circle. The team is built in Terry's vision and Adams absolutely shares Terry's vision. There is some nuance to it. Terry meddles with GMs who don't share his vision and is "absent" with GM's who do. I don't think Kevyn is a "Yes Man". A yes man implies they just do whatever the boss says. Kevyn 100% believes he's doing a good job, 100% believes he doesn't need more cash, 100% believes all the people are in the building. So does Terry. I suspect that any changes will result in Appert as HC and Forton as GM. @Thorny and @mjd1001 are arguing different sides of the same coin. There needs to be change at GM. It's our only chance. But the odds of Terry making a good hire and staying out of the way are remarkably low.
  23. This is why I’m still hoping Adams is fired and the franchise starts over. And this is why I don’t hold out much hope for the success of whoever succeeds Adams.
