  1. Past hour
  2. So the answer looks to be No, they are not for real. Yet. Clearly the next 20 games will separate them from seasons past if they can keep stacking points and not have the dreaded 8-10-12 game losing streak.
  3. Very interesting, I cant remember anytime that Greenway played center before, if he could play it well that would be a big help to the team untill Norris comes back
  4. Looks like Östlund might be out.
  5. Here's my concern. The team is marginally better but a chunk of that is goaltending. If the goaltending regressed even to average, this house of cards collapses.
  6. This is a trade that both teams are happy with. For Utah they get a young, talented offensive winger to help boost their offence. For Buffalo this is a culture trade. Doan and Kesselring bring size and skill but with the leadership traits that this team desperately needs. Im sure both fan bases will be happy with this trade in the long run.
  7. I agree. Outside of Yamamoto’s masterpiece in Game 2 the Jays have taken it to the Dodgers this series.
  8. So far it’s looking like your spot on. Here’s to hoping he continues his play and although it was only 1 game so far, I’m liking #8 as well.
  9. Doan is not better than Peterka. It is not even close. But he is a high motor player that we need. If Kesslering is a solid top 4 the trade might be even.
  10. Just some belated quick thoughts on some of our players from last night's game. I liked how Kesserling looked. Will be interested to see who Ruff pairs him with. I hope it is Power. Samuelsson is really playing solidly and consistently. I would prefer seeing him on the third pair with Timmons. Impressed by Timmons and how he plays. He's a defensive minded player who knows what his talents are and plays to them. As someone else noted Quinn is coming around. Playing with more speed and aggressiveness. Kulich is not ready for a 1C role just yet. Norriss's injury was a setback for the first line. Doan is a tough player who is willing to inhabit the net area. Specific attribute that this team desperately needed. The most encouraging thing about last night's play was the play of Lyon. If we regularly get this caliber of goaltending, we should be in the playoff mix. The penalty on Tuch that led to an Ottawa goal was atrocious. In general, disappointed at the outcome but encouraged by some individuals performance.
  11. No until proven otherwise.
  12. The Bills, along with every other team that selected a WR before him, had good reason to pass on Worthy as he is strictly an off ball receiver and is scheme limited as a result. He is a great fit for Reid, not a great fit for us.
  13. Interesting thought. That likely plays a role, who wants to deal with that kind of abuse day in and day out just to stay close to the game they love. (Sheepishly raises hand; would've been cool to be a professional in just about any aspect of the sport.)
  14. Today
  15. Small improvement. Didn't even show up until late in the first period last night. Finishing games in the 3rd period. Still fighting consistency. Long way to go.
  16. You people are miserable 😂
  17. Slow but steady is good enough for my rosier eyes. 😃You have to acknowledge that Samuelsson and Power are playing better this year. And there is no question that Timmons was a solid addition. I'm unsure about Byram but open-minded about him. Last night, we finally got a glimpse of Kesserling. I liked how he played last night. In my view, the blueline has improved.
  18. "Win the trade" is a pointless argument that often changes over time. Two teams trade sometimes for entirely different reasons.
  19. Stick with me kid.
  20. This, it was a good hockey trade for both teams but Doan is not better than JJP at least skill wise but he does bring things that JJP will never have.
  21. It's mindblowing just how bad NHL officials are at their jobs and that they just keep getting worse. I wonder if over the top abuse at youth level from nutty parents is driving would-be young officials out of the sport, thus shrinking the potential talent pool and leading to quality deterioration?
  22. Make it easy on themselves, win tomorrow in Beantown and then go 3-1-0 the rest of this 5 game segment and they're right where they need to be. Tonight, Byram played great, Timmons played great overall, Doan was still very good, and the 4th line was completely bought in to doing its job. Quinn was going to the areas he needs to and was generating chances because of that. Lyon didn't steal as many as he had been doing, though he did steal several early and at least twice in the 3rd BJ's had thought they'd scored but hadn't. Benson couldn't connect on a pass to save his life through much of the game but at least he was still working hard and winning battles. Dahlin had perhaps his worst game under the current and past head coach. Couldn't make a pass, lost battles, got out of position. Thompson was bad. Tuch couldn't make a pass. Zucker insisted on passing when he should've shot and shooting when he should've passed. And even with all that going on, and Power having a couple of major gaffes ruining an overall good effort, and with the refs only calling 1 penalty that wasn't associated with a fight/scrum and of all the things they let go deciding THAT was a penalty (and don't know 39's name, but the Sabres get him a LOT and he's awful), they still managed to get a point and really should've had 2 in regulation. They couldn't have had that many key players being off their game and still get points in a long time. Hopefully they ALL show up on Thursday. Speaking of the refs, 39's partner watched Timmons and a BJ beat the crap out of each other in front of the Sabres net for about 10 seconds and then working their way out of the zone including some REALLY viscious cross checks and slashes and called nothing. Very shortly after that, Tuch and the BJ are shouldering for position, the BJ loses an edge and an arm goes up. Initially thought it was a linesman calling it an icing because neither Tuch nor the BJ had clear positioning over the other when close to the dot. Had to do a double take to realize it was 39 blowing another call.
  23. As @PromoTheRobot mentioned, they were on sale in the Sabres Store as well. But by shortly after 4PM, at the absolute latest, all they had remaining for sale were XXL's. Another cool thought poorly executed.
  24. Rewatch, if you have a strong stomach, the 1st 15 minutes of the game. If you honestly believe UPL would've come out of that stretch only down 1-0, would like to have a discussion about a bridge that's available for reasonable payments. UPL wouldn't have stopped the 1st shot high to the glove, nor would he have survived the entire 3 shot flurry a bit later in the period. Plus the 1st goal against, that's 3-0 at a minimum. Down 3-0 to start, the Sabres don't come away with even the loser point. Personally, thought he should've been able to keep the 2nd goal out of the net. Yeah, he's getting screened, but if his stick is on the ice, that doesn't get through the 5-hole. After the turnover leading to the 1st goal, he didn't have much of a chance at all. Nothing he can do about a deflection from 3' out of the paint without a ton of luck. And can't fault him for a backdoor tip in off a puck coming from where it started either. That last one, Power has to get to the guy's stick sooner than he does.
  25. Definitely not good enough. But also only 2 points off the pace they need to maintain. Now they have to make up those two points over the next 10 games. Gotta get at least 14 points or else the deficit will grow.
  26. I thought Lyon was very UPL like last night. They can win with either, they can lose with either. Just my opinion.
  27. You do realize of course that were Worthy a Bill he'd be used almost exclusively for Jet Sweeps and WR Screens. Curtis Samuel and Elijah Moore are both very quick. Neither is used to stretch the field at all. Maybe they were saving those routes for this week now that the "tough" part of the schedule is coming up; but won't expect it until we actually see them run deep routes.
