I usually post on the Bills board. I've followed the Sabres in the past, but 14 years of futility have been hard to deal with. I think any pick thew Sabres could have mad at #9 overall would have felt like a bit of a disappointment. Kevin Adams is probably facing a do or die season this year and nobody Buffalo could have picked would contribute this upcoming season. Anything other than a trade that could bring immediate and significant help was doomed to be a failure. The problem is good veteran players don't want to come to the Sabres. Other teams know that the Sabres are desperate, and they are only too happy to try and take advantage. Those are tough circumstances in which to make a profitable trade. It sounds as if Mrtka could contribute in a few years. Next season will most likely be spent in juniors again. After that there will be 2 or 3 years in Rochester. Then, maybe we'll see if he has anything to offer the Sabres. If the Sabres have any hope of breaking the playoff drought, they had better hope their pipeline bears some fruit and they get some help from Rochester.

Maybe once the new stadium is complete the Sabres will be allowed to spend to the cap, who the hell am I kidding

Apparently there was not a counteroffer made by Allan Walsh to the Sabres initial offer.

He looks more jetlagged to me but ok 🙂

I was hoping for McQueen, but Mrtka has some potential. Check back in three years and I will say, "I told you so." about McQueen.

The fact that the clock resets when a trade is made is ridiculous

He could have gone anywhere from where he was drafted to around 41-42, or so. He probably wasn't making it to the next pick, but you never know.

Ya, I had my eye on him as well. Raw talent but I think he will be really good. Didn't think we'd get a chance at him though. Originally (when they had a late first) I thought Philly would take him because they love size.

He'll be a Sabre (unless he says he doesn't want to be here). The question is whether he is gone before he reaches his peak. (In addition to whether he ever really reaches full potential.) I think Mrtka will be a good player, but for the record, they need centers in their pipeline -- real top-flight centers like they once had with Eichel. McQueen might never be healthy, but his ceiling is a 1C. He was the BPA for me. And now, I hope Mrtka makes me eat it forever and wins multiple Cups in a Sabres sweater.

Not fair to compare Myers and Krupp to Power. Myers and Krupp could actually play defense.

Hard to have confidence in the management group

I was a fan of what I viewed of Horcoff, a little high for him, but again, it's all based on what you're looking for. That's awesome!

He actually runs a farm now. Does some standup touring mostly for fun, brings his rescue dog on stage with him. Seems to have settled into life.
