  1. Past hour
  2. This is where you are wrong imho. Miller can certainly play top pairing minutes with Dahlin 5 on 5. The Rags paired Miller with Fox as their 4th most common pairing last season. They had a GF% of 61% and an XGF of 64%. These number were significantly better than Fox's numbers with his most common partner Schneider. While Miller's scoring was down this past season, he had 49 and 47 points the prior 2 seasons and has average 21 to 22 minutes a night of PT including nearly 22 minutes a game last season. HE has also averaged nearly 56% D zone starts in his career including 58% last season. Most of his PT is 5 on 5, but he played often the NYR PK and occasionally on the PP.
  3. If you can move out Samuelsson, sure, get Miller but without that move, it's not good team building.
  4. He's not good enough to be a 1st pair player. If he can't play with Power, he's a 3rd pair in buffalo. Why are we trading assets and paying that much for a 3rd pairing defender? Because he hits?
  5. By the way the guy from Softcell, his voice is sadly going. Modern English sounded great as did Simple Minds. Simple Minds has this incredible lady drummer named Cherisse Osei. They also have a wonderful "backup" singer named Sarah Brown who did a great rendition of Book of Brilliant Things as part of our encore.
  6. Are you saying Miller is a 3rd pairing D? I'll respectfully disagree. I think he is a solid top 4 D with some good physical attributes. He adds some offense and is ok defensively (but an improvement on nearly everyone on the Sabres). With the right partner, he'd be a major improvement for the Sabres. The problem is Power isn't that partner, but Dahlin could be.
  7. Today
  8. Actually, until he raised them up a tad, no, they weren't for a vast array of his opponents. Again, he learned very early on what the league would let him get away with and took full advantage of it. And popping guys in the head with an elbow is dirty.
  9. Paying 6 million to a 3rd pairing defender is bad cap management imo. That's his low end salary estimate.
  10. It could be. It also will be REAL interesting to see how long their dominance lasts. Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic came along at just the right time to capitalize on improvements to training and equipment to stay at absolute top form for far longer than any other dominant players on the men's side. Now that their machines are pretty much out of the picture (though Djokovic hasn't yet fully given up the ghost) wonder just how long these 2 can continue to divvy up the tennis world between them (and maybe 1 more as, unlike with Sith Lords, always there are 3 seems to be SOP). (Disclaimer: don't follow tennis all that closely, so if one of you that do follow the sport closely want to say that Roger, Rafa, and Novak didn't dominate all that long, well as Emily Lutella used to say "nevermind." Though, personally, believe that having the 3 of them dominate the sport for over 20 years is in fact unprecedented in the modern era.)
  11. It’s not chara’s fault that his elbows were at everyone else’s head level
  12. Why do people assume Rosen has no value? When we drafted him everyone knew he was going to take longer than other prospects? He was a small, undersized, underdeveloped kid with promising abilities. But we knew he was years away. He’s been playing really well in Rochester and every time he gets called up he’s playing with 4th line trash. No way you can tell if someone has it that way
  13. Didn't realize Queensryche's members were still alive, much less still performing, might just have to check them out. Empire was an awesome album.
  14. Stevens blew people up. Don't recall him throwing that many elbows. Not when a perfectly timed shoulder will do SOOOOO much more damage. Pronger might've been dirtier than Chara. Let's say he was for sake of argument. That doesn't make Chara "clean."
  15. I'll be seeing Fu Manchu in Boston in September and Stereolab in October in Buffalo.
  16. The messed up part about this is that we probably care more than the players do. Right now Tuch is probably making a baby in his mansion without a care in the world while we’re on here talking about coaches, assistants, new players etc , sometimes it sucks to be a fan.
  17. Go back and read your response to my post.
  18. That will be a fun show.
  19. I can agree with Bennett but as much as Tkachuk plays hard and is an agitator I don't view him as a cheap shot artist. He will push you, punch you and chop you but most of the time it is when you are looking at him. I don't see him railing people from behind like some guys do. I am sure it happens but Tkachuck is willing to stand up for what he does. No one needs to fight his battles for him.
  20. Miller might be a bottom pairing guy on a good team but (assuming Byram is moved) he'd be 3rd best D man on the Sabres. Nobody wants Samuelsson unless we eat contract (which we won't) and Rosen has little to no value. You can make a Jokiharju for Nylander type deal with Rosen but otherwise he's a throw in. KA waited too long on moving him for real value. You want value for prospects they have to more unknown upside like Savoie had. So sure, I'd trade Samuelsson and Rosen for him but that's not going to happen and I'd trade Rosen and Samuelsson for a bag of pucks anyway.
  21. What are you talking about? I have already said McLeod was a good deal but we needed to make more of those. Zucker was fine but didn't really move the needle. He was a mid level aging forward with an injury history that devalued his worth to many teams and so he came here when we overpaid him. Okay, that's fine, but it wasn't anything miraculous. It was a usual underwhelming free agency. You've got used to a very low bar my friend. Adams is in his 6th year and he still hasn't filled the glaring holes on the roster. You know the second he realized he might be drafting Power he should have been searching high and low for a veteran D partner for him. Should have made that happen regardless of cost. But no, we're just going to have "development years" and let these guys flounder and develop bad habits. Sure, why not. Fly little birds fly, be free! Ridiculous franchise. Ridiculous GM.
  22. Good analysis. I saw more of him a couple of years ago than I did last year. Then, I thought that he was a promising player. And as you noted, at times he stood out more than Fox because of his physicality. But as usual, after time you settle down to being what you are. I would be willing to deal for him but wouldn't give up major assets for him.
  23. It's only "sometimes" because mostly we just aren't in any conversation. We are irrelevant to them.
  24. I think Pronger was much dirtier for big D men. Scott Stevens ended people, period. Just ask Eric Lindros. Nurse is really dirty. He doesn't get the scrutiny of Bennett because he plays with McJesus, but he is incredibly dirty and the dirtiest D man in this final series.
  25. Simple solution: pasta and more pasta. That'll bulk him up in no time. He's a young fellow but a little red vino won't hurt him. However, if he drank as much as my father did, his face will be red and his sentences somewhat garbled. 😁
