  1. Past hour
  2. Brad Shaw is indeed not returning to the Flyers after being passed over for head coach. Sabres should snap him up and offer him whatever to work with our D. Unless they bring in McKee as another option. Either could be an associate coach who could take over from Ruff if he fails again or wants out or even gets elevated out. But the D is the priority. Sabres of course will do neither and the heir will be Appert and I will just hate this team more.
  3. If there was a greater obsession with winning rather than the “big picture plan” this franchise would be relevant. Casually walking in a race puts you back in the pack, again and again.
  4. No one mentioned Karmanos yet. He is the Rochester GM, his team is playing a home playoff game. The Owner and his top staff are there. He had to be there somewhere.
  5. Almost time to kick some ass tomorrow night in Banditland!!
  6. “No, Terry won’t allow the team to spend at the level of others teams, therefore needlessly handcuffing our ability to make the playoffs, but he showed up in Roch for a game so I wouldn’t say he HATES the sabres”
  7. I don’t think he’s apathetic, but I think the idea I have to argue why him caring, somewhat isn’t enough in the face of a 14 year drought is rather absurd The fact the discussion needs to be framed as if he cares, at all is the whole point. It’s the resilience I’m talking about There’s no level we won’t lower ourselves to. We will grant this team the lowest of bars
  8. Today
  9. It’s a rather odd issue when it comes to JJ. His contract ask is unknown and couple that with his genuine value varying it makes him a hard player to pinpoint. Like I wouldn’t give him 8x8mil because he doesn’t give a consistent enough performance all 82 games and is a mostly 1 dimensional player. However I wouldn’t trade him for the sake of trading him.
  10. I’m not going to get into a semantics argument about what constitutes caring. If you think driving to Rochester to hang out with Seth Appert is normal behaviour for an apathetic billionaire, I’m probably not going to change your mind.
  11. I don’t think we have the cap space to be perfectly honest and I’d keep Tuch at 7.5mil over Marner at 13mil. That isn’t to say Marner isn’t a great player during the regular season and wouldnt be an upgrade on most players. But his contract demands would require us to gut our roster yet again just to fit him inside the cap.
  12. And I’m glad I don’t have to watch another second of it.
  13. Yesterday
  14. People shat over the Sabres and rightfully so, but since 2006 the Sabres have 4 playoff round wins. Assuming Toronto lose to Florida, it will be 4 playoff round wins for Buffalo, to two playoff round wins for the Leafs since 2006. Incredible. We’ve missed 14 years in a row and the Leafs have been in every year since 2017. Wow.
  15. I’ve seen all the films and zero of the shows, had to try Andror because the praise is incessant. Onto episode 4
  16. Obsessed with potential ceiling
  17. But cash and caring are “I want to win, but only if I can do it cheaply” isn’t caring
  18. “We tried” (But they didn’t, because they handcuffed themselves with “under adams”) Dude please don’t fall for that
  19. Shanahan could be done in Toronto. His deal is coming up and major changes will happen if the Leafs go out in round 2.
  20. Micah has gotten to the point of even figuring out how goalies do what they do in regards to xgf. Lots of good info if you subscribe to his work.
  21. Ok, we all know that Marner is very good in the regular season. How much are you going to pay him? Where does he fit? How many actual GWG or GTG does he have in the playoffs. He is a near PPG playoff scorer and yet I never hear the guys name in the playoffs and his team loses, many times in the first round. Last night was a critical home game for him and he was -2 with no points. So yeah, 62 points is great, but is he leading his team to victory? Doesn't seem like it to me. On top of all this he will not play for the Sabres.
  22. A higher career points per game in the playoffs than any current Sabre has in the regular season
  23. Posters use expected goals or xgf and many ask how it works. It takes historical sh% based on onblocked shots on net and averages that out. Then it adds up a teams total for the game. This actual had a visual for shot zones and some models get more precise than this because of NHL tracking which is very accurate now. They can also get really fancy and adjust for shot type, screens, pre shot puck movement. I thought the general visual would help though.
  24. And Reino was definitely the better draft pick.
  25. No room in Buffalo for a guy who has 62 points in 68 playoff games
  26. LOL. Yep, it seems that way. After all it's the Sabres way. Trade Eichel, trade Reinhart, might as well trade JJP. Let's trade all the good players our system develops and allow them to win Cups elsewhere. Dumping another good young forward is the height of stupidity. Why not trade/waive/catapult our bad defensemen and goaltending and use the saved cap space to fix the real problems with this team. Put Power, Byram, UPL, Samuelsson, and Clifton on the block and see what you can get. That's over 25 mill in cap liability right there. Dump most of those players and bring in a solid goaltender to play with Levi and find 2-3 defensive D and this team will become a playoff team next season.
