  1. Past hour
  2. Which players on Rochester are you referring to?
  3. Times were simpler then.
  4. Yes. She was Eleanor Roosevelt Roosevelt. If her middle name was Rosario she could come back as a voice on NPR. Her uncle was Teddy. She married a distant cousin in Franklin.
  5. Weren't they related, like cousins or something? Could her name have been Roosevelt, too? Or am I confusing that with another president?
  6. No googling. What was Eleanor Roosevelt's maiden name? I must have missed this day in history class.
  7. The players we draft are not aggressive enough. I do get points made but like Power, you cannot instill that style of hockey into someone that does not play that way. I get that is what the AHL is for, but if our farm team is having that problem at the AHL level, it is not going to get better when they get to the NHL. I do agree that having more skilled players is nice, but this team is not built to make it all the way. This team is not able to handle that next level physicality that comes in the playoffs in both the NHL and AHL.
  8. Today
  9. Levi was not great last night. Crowd really got on him late in the game chanting his name.
  10. Mostly the refs just aren't good, however Samuels-Thomas and Kea before him certainly had it out for us
  11. I’m not sure what I’m pounding the table for, but whatever we’re getting now,… ain’t it.
  12. The Billionaires Bill passed the house today...
  13. People keep pounding the table for experience and less meddling even while with the final four teams we have; two first time coaches three first time GM’s and one owner considered more meddlesome then TPEGS
  14. She’s here this week. And it took all of one cardinal for her to tell my son how special it is to see one. She has no idea that at this point, the kid has seen more cardinals than anything else.
  15. Nothing remains today from the original 70's team except the Uni's and logo. The root of why everything was better in 1975 than today is simple. The ownership (Knox's) was far better and engaged on the right things, they in turn hired better leaders across the organization and they let them do their jobs. That said, the league is different today, there are way more teams, there is a salary cap, there is free agency, there are teams in the land of palm trees and no state taxes, and players today are much different and motivated by different things. The only blueprint that Pegula needs to follow its to put together an experienced and proven Hockey Operations FO and let them do their jobs. He has yet to do that. Look at his hires: three first times GMs, one first time POHO that lasted just a few months, his wife and some friends/acquaintances from Pittsburgh and Penn State. Knox hired Imlach, Bowman, Meehan, and Muckler. Big difference.
  16. I mean, the weather around WNY. It's getting a little weird...
  17. Wow the refs are even against the Jr. Sabres! Where does this conspiracy end?
  18. Trades of unprotected 1sts are rare.
  19. I don't disagree with you that you need to be cautious about giving up high future picks. You make calculated judgments balancing the present with the future. It's a case by case situation. Would I give up a future first for a young player such as a Kulich type talent who could play for you right away? Yes. And I would be less reluctant to do so if I had depth in my prospect pool. Do I trust KA to make a good judgment? No.
  20. In the end even if I trusted the GM and the owner fully I still wouldn't make a move with the 26' 1st. You have to play smart from both a short term and long term angle. Even if we had made the playoffs 10 of the last 14 I would be cautious with this 1st.
  21. There's a huge difference between AHL and NHL physicality. The Amerks would likely fit in at the NHL level (In that specific sense) The issue is that in the AHL playoffs, more often than not, the team that can mug the other one is more likely to win. Combine that with the AHL being a developmental league and you get the oddities we see most years. The AHL playoffs should reward the better team as a whole but is more often than not more inclined to the thug mentality teams. Laval seems like the better overall team since their vets are outperforming our vets but the leeway they get on calls is borderline criminal.
  22. I understand your point but still don't accept it. The main reason is that all franchises in all sports contend with unexpected challenges. It's an inescapable part of sports and life. Over time, things should level out. Good organizations overcome unexpected adversities (what you call bad luck) while mediocre organizations succumb to them. Needless to say, I don't have much confidence in KA. But the person who should be the most scorned here is the obtuse owner who not only stunningly installed this ill-equipped congenial fellow into a position he was not prepared to handle but weirdly has kept him in the position after inadequately doing the job for half a decade. No other organization and owner would have kept a GM on the job so long except for the Sabre owner. Again, it's not a question of luck. It's an issue of pervasive incompetency. Not only am I sad to say that but also, I'm no longer tolerant of this ever-present foolishness.
  23. The house just passed the bill. It guts protections, centralizes power in the Executive branch, punishes any state that isn't in lockstep, and adds trillions in new debt so hard working Americans can get financially pillaged by the super wealthy. If you voted republican in the last election, this is on you.
  24. There's very few things I'd let our 2026 first leave for. Our 2025 first though... that's a different story.
  25. I’m not just talking recently or even the Pegula era; I mean as a whole. This city genuinely seems to have bad luck. For me, the 2026 1st is a hedge against complete darkness. 1. I don’t trust Adams to make a good enough team to feel confident we’d make the playoffs. 2. Our 1st being owned by another team only to win the Lottery is far too possible and Buffalo-y not to have happen.
