Umm we just got one, as pretty sure the Doans should count. Since the original Winnipeg Jets became the Coyotes who became the Mammoth.

Defenders of interest, who could bolster the defense

I like the d-corps as currently constructed. It could have a solid 3-year window to gel with bridges (or more) on Byram, Kesselring, and JBD. Byram-Dahlin Power-Kesselring Samuelsson-JBD (Clifton, Bryson-waive to AHL/tweener callup) The issue of course, is that it's not EEE if Byram, JBD, or Kesselring don't want to be here or want long-term deals. With the cap escalating, though, why would you go for a long-term deal if you're still on the ascent? As others have said along the thread, this trade lacks a 2nd or a swap of the firsts. Add #4, take away #9 and this trade works. Or, more likely, at least get that 2nd if they're being punks. Honestly, add #4 and I'm happy because I think you can still get more out of Quinn and Benson. And if Byram moves for a top-6 forward, it can still be OK. If this is the case, we have to wait for Peterka to become a legitimate star, lead the Coyotes to a President's Trophy, a WCF... before departing in free agency. We'll be at year 19 by then.

I can't lie I don't hate this trade which is why I don't think it's Adams who made it LOL we get 2 guys who arent afraid at all mixing it up and throwing their body around. Shane Doan has a that fire like his dad did and is growing more and more into it. The only thing I don't like is that both of them are RFA's next season and we could be going through the same thing again next offseason but I don't hate this at all.

This is the genius of the sabres. We can draft a guy, tailor our entire timeline to him and his group, screw up his contract, win nothing, trade him for nothing, and have it claimed we have “already won.” it’s literally bizarro world. I don’t have the level of bias to keep up with you guys, I legitimately thought I could fan but I can’t fan THAT much. I mean holy cow

Sooo, what type of player do you think is coming back for Byrum? A 2nd line forward? Surely not a top line forward? -

I agree we should have gotten something more as to me Doan while has potential is a 3rd liner right now so we have a major hole in the top 6. Hopefully we can get that with a trade of Byrum and/or 9OA. So I'll give Adams a C+ grade thus far as he did find us a top 4 RHD but gave up a top 3 Forward to do so. -

Now we know how Kevyn Adams does his job: clicks on SabreSpace.com, scans the website for fan trade ideas, goes with what a guy named after a Star Wars character suggests. -
I think Kesselring will pair with Power no doubt. Yet the bigger question is what are we doing to fix the hole we just made trading JJP? Doan to me is a 3rd liner as things stand right now.

Still should of got more and the wrong traded player but strangely these were 2 of the primary players I liked from Utah. Doan's heritage and the fact he plays a similar style to his father was part of my interest in him. Even if he isn't Shane Doan levels, if he can embrace that Power Forward role along with his high end motor he could easily be another Benson type. -
While not a fan of the entire return, getting a top for RHD in this league is tough. I get KA's thought process in that regard. What I don't get...is how we didn't get a lil more capital in return. A prospect or 2nd/3rd rounder would have been nice...and candidly expected. Losing a 23 yr old 25-30 goal scorer is no joke...let's hope our new RHD solidifies things.

So many variables and coaching is a huge one. Ive always wanted to see a deep-dive piece on how analytics darlings do after getting traded. How common is the Ryan McLeod path? How many turn out to be Colin Millers? The bold rings true to me. Should any of those things start with your 1st-line winger? Role matters in dressing rooms and talent helps dictate role. How respected and serious was JJ? He’s almost certainly not a leader. Was he a good follower? Are the new guys good foot soldiers? Can they be good corporals? Draft for talent, trade for need is a thing. Is our coach and GM capable of identifying what was lacking and what is needed? They haven’t been so far.
