Took Ruff too long to get their attention. Only started to play with a handful of minutes left in the 2nd period.

Really confounding.

Didnt generate enough offense. No back check and weak D in front of the net. Couple soft goals UPL would like back.

Nice game by Quinn. Tuch and Thompson didn’t show up when it mattered.

Team failure.

I'm embarrassing for several other reasons.  Timmins has his worst game of the year for sure. I'll have to reevaluate my "UPL is always the problem" stance

I don't mind people blaming UPL in general.  I know I have lots of issues with him ! BUT tonight if you blame him  and don't mention the 2 plays by Timmins that directly resulted in the chances, then it's being lazy

If that was Ellis in net tonight, the goalie wouldn't be blamed

I do not think they lost because of UPL.  The train front of him didn’t bring anything.  Zucker and Quinn had a good night.  That’s it.

I'm not saying UPL had an awful game. But we have seen a lot of games where the Sabres were 'goalied' this year. Where non-Vezina winners made incredible saves that led to a Sabres loss.  I need UPL to have some games like that. If he did, they likely would have had 1 or 2 goals tonight. He didn't play awful, but he was the 2nd best goalie on the ice tonight.

True, because this fanbase hasn't seen Ellis be absolutely awful for the majority fo the past 1+ seasons.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, goaltending just won the game for the Pens, Jarry just robbed the Sabres of a at the very least a tie game.

And the other G with his slow reaction to the unfortunate deflection and a five hole big enough to allow a beach ball through....

If Timmins doesn't make those 2 boneheaded passes, is it a different game?

Wait, is firing Adam’s the juicy fart, or is the juicy fart Adams?

Asking for a friend.

Adams is the fart. Not the whimsical whistle toot everyone gets a chuckle out of, he's the brown tide, ate Taco Bell at 1 am "oh *****, why is this happening to me???" kind of fart.

Is it legal to trade Owen Power for a broken 1982 Zamboni?  He gets outworked and over powered constantly.  He cost the game standing next to Hayes for the GWG.  How many times must we watch his defensive ineptitude???

Such a lazy take on tonight's game

There are other games that he has let in a softie, tonight isn't one of them

I don't see how it's lazy but again it's your opinion, UPL needed to come up big and did not imo if you disagree that's ok, there will be plenty more game to disagree and cheer about I'm sure... Hopefully more cheering though.

UPL didn’t play terrible or anything but Pittsburgh had like what, 7 or 8 dangerous chances the entire game?  and they scored on 3 of them. Not good enough.  Jarry outplayed UPL plain and simple.

But his hair is, just.... perfect

I feel a parody song of Warewolves of London incoming, with Owen being the muse

Yes but you can also say if he robs Rust or whoever scored the other of a goal it's a different game also. It's a moot point though because neither happened lol

Agree. The Sabres big players, Thompson, Dahlin, Tuch … did not show.  Thompson was -3 and Tuch  -2.

I really can’t come up with a good take

They played a rough grimy 40min giving up 1 goal on a bad giveaway

Then fight for 20min to tie only to lose it to a bad bounce, get back into it at 3-2 only to somehow have the puck not go in on 4 good chances and then magically stick with 3 separate Penguins as they moved it out for the ENG. we made contact with the puck all 3 passes and yet in never diverted at all.

It’s games like these that make me feel we’re cursed. Get only negative luck in a solid effort and lose as such. At very least we deserved a point

Agree. Good take.

Exactly this. This loss isn't solely on UPL by a damn stretch, but his track record has made him ripe for blame and two of the goals he let in are stopped by good NHL goalies. The Pens did not play a good game by any stretch and still got 4 past him and hung an .833 SV% on him. This is the kind of game teams with playoff aspirations need their goalie to steal for them. UPL didn't do it. And so as not to offend UPL's fans, hat tip to Timmons for two dipshit plays and to Power for playing scarecrow in front of the net.

I'm not even mad, just bored by the same thing I've seen 30 times before.

For whatever reason, when it's against Pitt, it stings!!!

I don't understand why dragging the puck behind you over the blue line isn't offside?

Because as long as you have control of the puck, you are allowed to bring the puck into the zone behind you.  But all of your teammates must still wait for the puck to fully cross the blue line before they enter the zone.

The point of offside is to keep players from hanging at the net before the puck is in the zone.  Even a guy as big as Tage Thompson can't be hanging out at the net as the puck is coming into the zone when he has possession of the puck.

The NHL's version of the game is low scoring enough.  No reason to artificially lower scoring chances even more than they already are when the play doesn't give the attacking team an unfair advantage.  MHO.  YMMV.

Oh, without a doubt Timmons gets the, WTF was THAT (×2) tonight!!!

I'm officially over Power (MOST ironic surname in ALL of pro sports at the moment IMO). I understand that he wasn't ready for the show, and D take longer to develop, and he really does have some REAL talent. Yet, he's maddeningly SOFT!!! It's brutal to see him, not only make the wrong play, but to do so while being a complete and total pu$$y just makes him unlikeable

That said, UPL is a cancer IMO, and REAL change means his a$$ isn't riding the pine, real change is him being GONE from this squad, forever!!!

Too much history (with 80% being BAD history), and his mopey demeanor is even MORE off-putting than pu$$cake Power!

Crikey, this team gives me heartburn 😃

Does Power have any real talent besides being 6'6, though? I struggle to pinpoint one thing he's good at. Sure, he's a decent enough puck mover, but there's a lot of those. I see a really average offensive defenseman who is mostly a liability on defense and doesn't have a single clue how to utilize his size/length to his advantage. I'm sure some (a lot?) of that is piss poor coaching, but there are some things a guy that was as touted as him coming in should be able to figure out. He's in his fourth full NHL season and is he really any better than his first? When's the last time you can recall noticing Power positively for a whole game? I'm really struggling to recall one and I watch him pretty closely waiting for that "wow" moment you expect from a #1 overall pick (even in a weak draft). He's too damn passive.
