And that is the difference between a team that makes the playoffs as the 6-8 seed and one that doesn't make it.

All teams fighting for the last spot in the playoffs have good games and bad games. They have games they lose they SHOULD win.

The difference between the Sabres and the teams that squeek in isn't always talent, its the Sabres have just a few more games like this than the other teams do.

It’s just inexcusable that when a couple of our guys that exhibit the right traits on a nightly basis are out that the other guys can’t take the mantle for a night

We've had and have key players missing, so I'm not putting this on the players.  They've played well enough and have shown an ability to overcome multiple injuries and play good hockey despite the massive rash of injuries.

 

At some point, coaching has to help and be a factor.

Zucker has some big goals, but I have thought his play without the puck and the number of turnovers, is a step back from his game last year.  Yet, you are still correct, they miss him.

I don't have confidence in Ruff and/or Adams to bench Quinn. But if you were fully healthy, MAYBE he would be getting less minutes and doing less harm than he is now.

Thompson has looked slowish since that shot block against Washington. The AHLers aren’t exactly helping him either. 
 

We have so many forward injuries that we can’t sustain anything between shifts. 
 

UPL has to make that save

Quinn is both the most and least skilled puckhandler on this team.

I’m definitely not giving up they’ve shown that they can tie a 2-0 deficit up

but for as annoying as it was hearing Dan for over half of the second period babbling, listening to Dixon Ward about how they held each other accountable and had uncomfortable conversations is something that I wish this team could figure out how to do

I really hope some uncomfortable conversations are taking place right now and they come out and win this thing

I’m kidding 13, of course they are better when the better players are in the line up. But let’s be honest with ourselves, outside of improved netminding, defense, nothing has really changed. They aren’t aggressive enough on the puck, they show spurts but no consistency, the youth excuse is done. They have veteran players on this roster now, that have come of age. There’s no leadership.

They have the least amount of games played in the entire league, by over 1,000 fewer games over the 31st team.

Remember a couple years ago, the team scored 5 or more goals in 25 games. Almost 1 in 3 games they scored 5 or more. More than once per week on average.

This year, they've done it 2 times, in what is likely to be 14 games. About once ever 2 weeks.

This does not mean Dahlin, Thompson, Tuch, Greenway and others are veterans. They, along with others who have enough time in the nhl to be considered veterans are in this game. Like I said, the youth excuse is done.

Sabres were close to dominating the first period.

2nd period was closer, probably a slight overall edge to the Blues.

Not a good sign when they played last night and the Sabres were home resting.
