Carmel Corn Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Could he be the Matt Ellis of goaltenders??? 1 1 Quote
Porous Five Hole Posted 1 hour ago Author Report Posted 1 hour ago 25 year old third round pick back from the 2019 draft. Never played an NHL game. Already better than Georgiev. Quote
Mustache of God Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Since they claimed him it means they have to keep him on the roster, correct? This tells me UPL is out longer and they're letting on....AND we're still running 3 goalies, unless they release Georgiev. Quote

dudacek Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Adams playing 3D chess? In that if he waives 2 goalies, at least one will make it through? I know nothing of the player. Quote
Porous Five Hole Posted 1 hour ago Author Report Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Ellis’s numbers in the AHL last year comp to Devon Levi (Devon is a full year younger). CE: 42GP, 22W 14L 3OT 3SO, GAA 2.63, .922 Sv Pct DL: 42GP, 25W 13L 4OT 7SO, GAA 2.20, .917 Sv Pct Edited 1 hour ago by Porous Five Hole 1 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago (edited) It's the "Reverse Reimer" from last year. Ellis' numbers are lightyears ahead of Luukkonen's... in the AHL. They'll waive him back to St. Louis in a month unless he's just a lights-out goalie. I guess they don't want to risk having Levi play in the NHL this season and accumulate games accrued toward losing waivers exemption. But, hopefully this (temporarily) solves the issue that Adams cannot ever solve. Luukkonen to IR, play Lyon, waive Georgiev to the AHL where if he doesn't report, no worries and no loss. Roll two goalies and keep Levi marinating for later. Edited 1 hour ago by DarthEbriate 1 Quote
dudacek Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago I hope it means Georgiev never sees the light of day in blue and gold. It probably means that they are absolutely desperate and they just hope something sticks. 1 2 Quote

French Collection Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago TP is gonna be p****d if Georgiev and Bryson are waived after signing NHL contracts. KA foolishly throwing his money in the toilet. Quote

This is exactly what I think... we dont have an NHL caliber starter, we arent gonna go get one, lets go buy 50 pull tabs and hope we hit a 2 dollar winner... Quote

He has eyes and saw Georgiev’s preseason, so I bet he expected it. In all seriousness, I think Darth nailed it that he will backup Lyon while UPL is out and hit waivers again. The perfect spot for Ellis is in the AHL owning a crease like Levi is doing. Ellis only 64 AHL starts in his career. Good for his wallet that he isn’t and I hope his fresh start turns him into Dom reincarnated. Quote
dudacek Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Is there another team with 7 goalies on NHL contracts? Seriously asking. I think most teams run with 4 or 5. Quote

Entirely possible. But he'd still have been far and away their best goalie since Miller (and briefly, strictly by the numbers, Lehner -- if he'd been able to keep himself healthy off the ice). 40 healthy games of Ullmark, with ....Anderson?... as a backup and hot Levi to finish, gets them in 2022-23. 1 1 Quote

Archie Lee Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Ellis is basically at the point in his career where Levi will be a year from now. He spent a couple of years in the ECHL, in part, because the Blues had Lindgren and Hofer in the AHL. He has not been considered at Levi's level as a prospect, but I still prefer giving him a chance to going with Georgiev. Also, at the risk of dumping on Adams for everything, just looking at all of the goalies who have hit waivers in the last 48 hours (Ellis, DiPietro, Sogaard, Primeau), it seems like Georgiev was a panic move. ponokasabre Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago https://thehockeywriters.com/blues-ahl-goalie-colten-ellis-provides-team-with-a-future-option-in-net/ The only thing for me is he basically sounds like Levi Now with him getting claimed he will have to be on the NHL roster or we have to waive him, and if he clears then St Louis can take him back Quote
Thorny Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Can someone explain to me what the expected setup is in net? Actually asking. All of these guys apart from UPL and Levi look like the made-up guys perennially sitting in “free agents” in the EA sports games and I stopped paying attention to goalie ads after several years because of proven incompetence when addressing position being thoroughly stamped in as a Rushmore staple of Adams’ tenure 4 minutes ago, Archie Lee said: Ellis is basically at the point in his career where Levi will be a year from now. I’d take panic tbh rather than a reflection of the fact Adams has no real expectations foisted upon him Quote

The organization needed another goalie for Rochester either way. The Amerks are legitimately good and giving 30 games to one of Topias Leinonen or Scott Ratzlaff would be a terrible idea. What’s scary is it took a UPL injury for KA to do anything. Quote
