What is the Sabres internal CAP# for the 2025-26 season

NHL CAP is 95.5 million

What's the Sabres? 90? 85? Idk what the cap floor is but we're above that already. 

So, how much can Adams actually spend.

$88M cap floor, Sabres are at $77M. That’s before signing McLeod and Byram (if he doesn’t get traded). Assume $5M and $8M and that puts you at $90M. 

If there’s truly an internal cap and Adams is holding Byram now, we’re looking at our roster already

EDIT: Forgot about Kozak ($1M), Levi ($1.5M) and JBD ($1M). That puts you at $93.5M and pushing the actual cap. Trying to give Adams the benefit of the doubt this offseason with the Jarmo hiring, but it’s looking like another not great offseason at this moment

As some have already pointed out, the savings in the Peterka trade will remain a Red flag until they aren’t there any more.

There’s still a week to play things out; 32 teams have multiple balls in the air and they’re all intertwined. It takes time to figure out which ones get caught, and which drop to the floor.

Pending the Byram and McLeod contracts, they’ll have a full roster and $5-6M to spend. You can’t convince me a 79-point team would be better off leaving that money unspent.

Further to that, Adams claims he entered the off-season with a plan and he confirmed trading JJ Peterka was not part of that plan.

So realistically one should assume the $5M saved from trading JJ should be in the budget to spend on other things.

And that having a 65-point winger on the roster was part of his plan.

So if it doesn’t happen, the only choices available to the observer would be that either he lied, or he failed.

Issue with that is.  From going back to Berglund at a minimum, when cash gets freed up unexpectedly due to circumstances changing, it's always wound up in ownership's pocket rather than being used to buy something fun.  HOPING that isn't the case this time.  EXPECTING it is, until it finally isn't.  (And it is very possible that in the new plan they do have a plan to spend that money.  But after getting fooled on that one so many times, won't believe it until it has actually happened.

After they trade Byram, all these transactions would have saved $14m in cap (after the cost of extensions). Quinn's extension is a wash, as you were doing that either way. How's he spending this $25m in cap space? Tuch extension, Robertson, Marner, Ehlers, ekblad? What's the plan?

Puckpedia is showing just over 20 mil for n cap space for the Sabres. That’s following the most recent trade.

This was before the Clifton trade, $3.3M for Clifton to $1.1M for Timmins cleared up that extra little bit

Perhaps Peterka told them they needed to move him.
