Turbo44 Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago Gibson is the answer if Buffalo is the answer for Gibson. What would the cost be? A 2nd and a prospect? UPL and a prospect? Quote

Night Train Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago With todays work agreement, teams need a 3rd string emergency Goalie. I'm sure they'll send our Staal to scout the bars for candidates. 1 1 Quote

Big Guava Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago Need to tell UPL he is in danger of losing his job...seems like he only plays well and stays focused when he has something to lose. Quote

The GM didn’t have an adequate fallback position for the goalie who was URFA. It ended up being a reverberating mistake. Quote

For a long time, the Sabres have been an irrelevant NHL team. Just maybe, the tide might be changing into a more positive spot. I really believe that if the front office handles this offseason smartly, it will inch up the ranks from irrelevancy to respectability. One step at a time moving forward instead of backward. Quote

I would be very receptive to trading UPL to get a more experienced goalie added to the roster. As you point out, with goalies there are no guarantees of consistency of play on a year-to-year basis. But with Levi in the system I would be less reluctant to move UPL to get more consistent play from that critical position. I also agree with you that the success of the goalie is inextricably linked to team defense. Quote

It's the classic example of "one man's trash/treasure." The trick is knowing which goalie will bounce back, or seeing something in the other team's play that contributed to that failure. I think Linus Ullmark is a great example. He wins a Vezina as soon as he moves on from Buffalo's Swiss cheese defense in front of him. Edited 3 hours ago by PromoTheRobot Quote

If the Sabres would have gotten Ullmark caliber of goaltending, this team would be much better. I'm not shooting for the moon. What I want is consistent solid play in net. And as you point out, team defense that includes the blueliners and forward group are critical to the success of the goalie. Quote
JP51 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I am not against getting a better goalie nor am I saying that we dont need to improve the D around them. But what I really want is to find out once and for all if Levi is that guy... if he is not then fine go get your guy or try again with UPL or whatever but at this point how much more AHL seasoning is going to be productive or do we have a Jody Gage in net... (clearly to early for that) I dont know the answer. I just want to find out going on his 4th pro year where he will turn 24. I feel like it may be time and maybe the answer is right here... if not move on , upgrade do what you need too Quote
