Night two of the road trip. The Amerks dominated the first period and lead 3-1 after one.

Helenius with a dart and the Amerks regain the lead 4-3 late in the 3rd. Amerks PK killed a 4 minute double minor a few minutes prior.

Wahlberg with what looked like a 180 foot backhand empty netter (need to see the replay). Amerks win 5-3. 
 

EDIT: not a backhander, but a 190 foot wrister into the vacant net.

Levi was rough early. 3 goals on 11 shots and 2 were not good. Settled down and made those saves like Leone wanted.

Sabres passed on signing Marjala. He has 13 points in 14 games for Bakersfield. Would have been a nice piece for Rochester

It certainly wouldn't hurt to bring another playmaking center, probable winger if he ever makes it to the NHL, into the Rochester lineup. Östlund still feels like the only pass-first playmaker with the Amerks.

Good to see the progression. It's not surprising he's now a top 6 center and the Amerks lineup no longer has Rousek, Dunne, Jobst, and partial seasons of Östlund/Rosén getting big minutes and PP time.

Am I losing my mind or were there stories during the summer that Marjala chose not to sign?

According to this it was not mutual but I am unclear on what that means. Makes it sound like the Sabres didnt have interest but the player expected to get an offer.
