I’m just funnin’ ya.  I can’t take any of this passionately anymore.  Y’all are the entertainment that the Sabres do not provide.

“I’m here, aren’t I?” from Karmanos

These are the quotes and associated stank to which I referred.

Did Karmanos actually say those things?

This is the second time recently you’ve tried to switch what you were supposedly responding to while quoting me. You put “said” in quotation marks and in my post when I used “said” it was about Brawndo. Clearly that’s the quote being referred to in this context

I've always been asking you: Did Karmanos actually say the things that you put in quotes?

I apologize if I was unclear.

Ok, but to be fair I’m not sure where the “you’ve put stank on what he’s said before” thing comes from them as, to be honest im not even sure I’ve typed the noun Karmanos on this board at all in 10 years, let alone quote him. But I digress

- - -

this is his full quote as provided by the illustrious Mike Harrington

"I'm thankfully not on social media of any kind. One of my daughters informed me of my 'uncertain status' a few weeks ago or whatever. I'm under contract and I'm here. So yeah, no change."

And these posts, articles, and the resulting threads on this board will persist the entire season as long as everyone in hockey operations is operating on a lame duck contract. There will always be the valid question from the outside, "What's the plan for next year?"

ahhite. thanks.

seeing the quote in full context, i'm now more convinced than i was before: those are just the words of someone in a lame duck administration. they're all on one-year deals.

maybe you agree. maybe we were talking past each other?

also, i still sorta think your 2 versions of that quote (clipped above) put a bit of stank on what was actually said. #stank

This is a big nothing burger because you could just as easily interpret this to mean nobody's talking to him or keeping him in the loop.

I'm not sure why people here are so enamored by him anyway. What's he done here worth noting?

Hard to say.  I cling to these two things which make me at least think if we go internal he is the best choice.

1.  He is doing a good job as AGM, and as GM for Rochester based the fact they are competitive.   You can argue if the players that come from there are good or not, that's another discussion but his teams wins.

2.  He had much more FO experience than Adams when he got here, including Cup winning experience from a FO position.

I prefer we bring in someone new but Terry has to know the person apparently.

I think that they are not thinking past 1 year either... but ultimately,  I think the quote is a nothing burger... hey you gonna get fired or take another job... i am under contract so I am here means to me literally nothing... that is a no comment to me phrased in a way to avoid speculation cause he just doesnt know... that said I do not think the issue is Karamonos getting fired... I think if he leaves its for another job.

Well ya, that's the Pegula way but I don't see him actually doing anything remarkable. Rochester was competitive because of a wealth of top draft picks. That's not his doing, that's a result of the Sabres sucking. I don't see evidence of building a winning AHL roster which would have more toughness and AHL vets on it. Not to say that's his fault, because it's likely an organizational approach but I don't see any great success at any level for anybody in Sabres management.

But it's a fart in a bottle all the same.

How the *****, is he supposed to build a roster with more vets when you just ***** said he has a wealth of top draft picks? What do you want? A veteran AHL team or a development AHL team?

Also they finished in like 4th in the AHL so how isn't that a winning roster? Especially since everyone but Kulich will be back in Rochester? You're a walking contradiction here. "His team was only good cuz draft picks, but also he shouldn't have found space for them cuz AHL vets, but also they weren't good"

If you haven't noticed, I've been saying there are too many prospects who are relatively the same for quite some time and have said repeatedly Adams needs to trade some for NHL roster players to create a balanced roster. There should be a veteran young player mix on both teams as well as some prospects in Europe and junior. They need leadership and have to be taught how to be pros. I've been consistent on this since day 1.

My point in this discussion is that Karmanos is a name and hasn't actually done anything special in Buffalo. I do not see any evidence that he is a GM solution any more than Adams was.

The AHL roster literally is a mix. It has to be by rule. That's my point. Also how would Helenius or Wahlberg or Novikov being in another league help anything? They're in Rochester to learn the pro NA game. They all had varying levels of success there this season.

The AHL isn't like the NHL. The NHL is about 1 thing, the Stanley Cup. The AHL is about multiple things from development to yes, winning a championship. Still, the main point of the AHL is going on to win a Stanley Cup and I actually feel they have a decent veteran mix in Rochester,  Laval got better gt and was the better team. Hopefully next year Rochester will improve.

Well okay, we disagree on the value of the veterans they have.

I’ve yet to watch most of this, but Karmanos responds to an early question about the Amerks by saying “there’s a lot going on in Buffalo” with implication being that there are things in motion aimed at pushing the Sabres into the playoffs that could have significant implications on the Amerks.

He sounds like a guy very much involved in whatever the Sabres are cooking and that there is an expectation that changes to the NHL roster will happen.
