When contacted at the Homeland Security’s Buffalo office, a duty agent said the cameras were not owned by that agency.

“We investigate crimes, we would not have anything to do with that,” the agent said. “We’re in charge of cameras and things at the borders, but something like that out in that area isn’t something we would handle.”

Well, there's an easy way to find out:  Take down the camera and see which agency gets pissed.

My only thought is that they'd be reading license plates on a highway that helps connect Canada, where terrorists could cross, to the Mid Atlantic states (Washington?). That spot might be attractive because cars slow down, possibly making it easier to read the plates. Just spitballing. Of course the terrorists might be in a hurry.

Has anyone not noticed the cameras on the I-90 overpasses at exits?  Nearly every bridge for an exit has a camera on it.  I'm sure it is for the same purpose as the ones in Limestone.
