WTF...Do the Sabres give physicals to acquired players?

How exactly, do you propose the Sabres find out that he is injured before they make the trade, if it's an injury that he hasn't been disclosing or that hasn't been keeping him out of the game? It's not like we can say the day of the deadline that "hey, we're interested in this guy, let's send the medical staff down to look at him."

Just the risk you take making deadline deals.

It's not rocket science. He arrives in Buffalo, they give him a physical and if he fails it, they send him back to Columbus and the Sabres keep their 2nd round pick and Paetsch.

Is the physical condition of a player traded for even reviewable? It seems a little silly that they would allow "backsies" on a finalized trade.

I would hope so. In the NFL it is. The Bills traded McCargo to Indy during the 2008 season, the Colts flunked him after his physical and back to the Bills he came.

Didn't the Bills just sign some d-lineman who failed two physicals for other teams? Do the Bills and Sabres use the same doctors?

I would think the Sabres would love to have the Doctor that was instumental early on in enabling Kevin Everett to walk. From all accounts, the Bills have an excellent medical staff.

Yet they passed a player on his physical after that same player failed two previous physicals? To your point, is the doctor that thought fast to lower Everett's body temperature the same doctor conducting physicals?

Actually yes. Dr. Andrew Cappuccino was Everett's doctor, and he passed Dwan Edwards on the physical with respect to his spinal cord injury, surgery and current spinal cord health.

Torres said the injury took place post-trade while taking a shot in practice. Anyone else smell a rat?

So first Lindy is playing coy about when Torres got hurt and now Torres comes out and says he got hurt after the trade.

If he was hurt prior to the trade, it is clear the Sabres didn't catch it during a physical(if they gave him one?). If he was hurt after the trade and you are going on his word, they are stuck with him. All we can hope for is that he is healthy come playoff time because that 2nd round pick is long gone.
