  1. I honestly hated the idea of this show when the rumors first started about a prequel/spin-off but I love it so far. The beginning and ending of Episode 1 were outstanding, and the long scene in the desert in Episode 2 could rival anything from Breaking Bad. And another good episode tonight. Happy to have something new to watch with Breaking Bad over and Mad Men ending soon.
  2. Agree 100%.
  3. Bogosian was really good tonight. Almost a little too good.....
  4. RIP, Mr. Montador. Nothing has ever been in more dire need of a modification than the rules for hitting in the NHL. A punch in the face is nothing compared to someone driving a body armored elbow or shoulder into someone's face at 30mph but the NHL looks the other way on that more often than not. 30+ game suspensions for targeting the head would be a nice start.
  5. SPOILER: Tonight is the episode where they illustrate that life in the apocalypse is depressing and harsh, and that's there's No Hope. It's supposed to be super hardcore.
  6. It's a special day.
  7. Last night's episode was a contender for worst episode ever, or at least their worst episode since the Latino gang who was only stealing weapons to protect their grandparents in the old folks home in season 1. 1. The show fell right back into "Misery Porn" territory. The show runners are really convinced they're doing something profound when they reiterate how bad things are in the world after the apocalypse. Yeah, we get it. I swear sometimes the show feels like it's written by 14 year olds who need to prove their show can be hardcore. "See how miserable and crazy everyone is! See how there's no hope! HARDCORE!" 2. Did anyone think Tyrese was going to survive when he started seeing visions of every dead character from the past couple seasons? And yet they still dragged that whole thing out for 30 minutes somehow. 3. "It's OK, Tyrese. It's better now." Not sure if that was even meant to mean anything. Giving up and dying is better? OK. Sorta makes me not care about any of the remaining living characters.
  8. Did Zemgus just skate onto the ice during the Fall Out Boy performance?
  9. Yes, silly me for being suspicious of good things happening with regard to Buffalo sports. 35 games left, BTW. I was probably also one of the first people on this board asking the Sabres to burn it all down and start over with high draft picks. It all evens out.
  10. The 2016 version where the top three picks are lottery is going to be dope.
  11. Actually, despite the fact that I know absolutely nothing, I do want the Sabres to bring me into the draft room just to veto potential picks. The three 2nd round picks from the past two years that I didn't like all still look terrible: Connor Hurley, Eric Cornel, and Vaclav Karabacek. Sabres won't need to change anything else about their scouting and drafting strategy; they'll just need to add a "Wait, let's run this one by Rob" layer at the end. I'll clear my schedule for draft weekend.
  12. No matter what happens, next year won't be like this year. Next year the top three draft picks are all lottery. So you could finish 30th and draft 4th overall. Fans will have far less incentive to cheer against their team. The draft threads will still be popular because draft threads are ALWAYS popular. The draft nerds (like me) love to pretend we know what we're talking about.
  13. Hope the goals by Stewart and Stafford help us trade them this week.
  14. In this scenario we'd also be drafting either 1st or 2nd (assuming the 31st is ours). So....let's all go ahead and pray for this to happen.
  15. Great minds think alike. And so do we. :P
  16. So would the common sense people.
  17. Nevermind, I guess.
  18. Huge miss if we don't move one of the goalies. GMTM should be on the phone with Detroit this morning (i.e. now!) if Jimmy Howard's injury is as bad as it looked.
  19. Mrs. Ryan and her sexy, sexy feet?
  20. If anything, that's not a ringing endorsement of Corsi.
  21. He's had concussion issues since Juniors. They've basically derailed his career. :(
  22. Didn't understand a word. Still the best song I've heard in years.
  23. Marner blowing away the rest of the OHL finally got him to #3. Strome keeping a 1.4 ppg pace after McDavid got hurt put him ahead of Hanifin too, I guess. Trading up for our 2nd pick of 2015 would be appeal in this scenario too, with Rantanen (11), Crouse (12), Harkins (13), Boeser (15), Zacha (17), and Barzal (18). And Korostelev at #46 (!!!!!!!!).
  24. And it all comes down to an injured defenseman again.
