His stock is rising and has been all year. That said, Detroit is 2 points out of the top spot in the conference and Myers is the guy they've been after for a while now. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are getting up there in age and Larkin has a couple more years to go in college. Would they go for it and overpay for Myers at the deadline?

Supposedly we're asking for Larkin + roster player + 1st round pick. Not sure if Larkin is just completely untouchable to them.

Also, Myers for a package built around Larkin is looking more appealing.

He's the one we're asking Detroit to give us if we trade Myers. We were also trying to trade back into the 1st last year for someone, and it may have been him.

No idea what Darcy would have done, but Forsberg was a no brainer to me. I remember letting out an F bomb when the Caps took him right before our pick. It was the difference between a clear first liner and a big question mark.

We were one spot away from drafting him in 2012. But those late season wins that year were totally worth it.....

Good thing we didn't draft Garoppolo. I'm much happier with that tackle who has literally been worthless this year.

At the rate things are going, getting Strome might take a miracle. The Sabres are within striking distance of half a dozen teams ahead of them in the standings. An exit from the bottom ten in January is possible. The Sabres started the season 2-9-1. Since then they're 12-10-2. The Sabres aren't going to go back to the dysfunction they went through in October. They're on an upward trajectory while teams around them fall apart (e.g. New Jersey). This isn't the tank you're looking for.

Last year wasn't the "first time." It was the third time, and the only time they didn't pile up some meaningless wins to screw up their draft position. Last year's posts were mostly superstition; this year it's because this team is overruling whatever the stars say should be happening. EDIT: My mistake. Last year was the *fourth time*. We were dead last in the league on January 1st, 2011. Screwed that up as well.

Finally, a sequel (or special edition, whatever) that tops the original! Well done, Mr. PA. Also, the 1999 version probably had a lot of references the youngsters around here wouldn't get. The Aud Club inside jokes are a huge upgrade.

Great recap and thanks for the info. But this is still NOT the type of player I'd want in the top 5, and top 10 seems questionable as well. It's a lot of "he's big and strong, but he can't quite finish yet." At some point you just want the guy who gets the job done even if he isn't a giant. Can you really build around a guy who isn't even a prolific scorer in Juniors? If we're talking about our second 1st round pick, I still love the idea of Korostelev, even if we have to move up a few spots to get him. Even more so if we end up with Zacha since they already play together in Sarnia. #ChroniclesOfSarnia
