  1. Scandella looks like he’s shot. It’s hard to watch him play this year.
  2. Glad we put Scandella back in the lineup for that disaster.
  3. That’s true for how our Tank unfolded but I’m not sure it has to be. If the Sabres had brought in the right players to start the 2015-2016 season, the turnaround would have been quick. Murray’s rebuild was built around ROR, Kane, Lerner, Bogo, etc., and we made a few other crummy trades (e.g. Fasching), on our way to being the first team in NHL history to finish in 31st place.
  4. Which is fine for us since we don’t need guys that are ready to step in within two years anyway. As long as we’re still getting talent, we can wait a few years before it’s ready and when we’ll need some lower priced guys then anyway (assuming we re-sign everyone we need to!). And, yeah, kinda thinking we should just count on our 1st and the one from SJ for 2019 at this point.
  5. I was really impressed with the game presentation last night. The Sabres-Flyers rivalry montage during the 1st intermission was awesome and the Sabres montage (to “Guerilla Radio” by Rage Against The Machine) in the 2nd was great too. FWIW, I actually like DJ Milk. I was wildly skeptical when I first saw him in that second game of the season but his intermission stuff has won the crowd over every time and it’s been a good way to pass the time until the players are back out. I like that we’re stealing an idea that’s worked in the NBA (versus just looking at what other hockey teams are doing).
  6. I forgot about Hutton stopping a three on none against the Rangers in the second game of the season. Epic play. And thank goodness we didn’t start 0-2 this year.
  7. Agree with literally all of this and glad you posted it. I randomly had a thought during the game that I was so happy we had Sobotka on the team, and he seemed like just a warm body we got back when we made that trade. He’s a steady player for us. I also loved that ERod had a monster game. He’s not the most skilled player by any means but he’s one of the most alert players I’ve ever seen and has an amazing sense for where to go or when an opportunity is there. I feel like he could contribute on any line if we needed him to.
  8. The first period was probably my best experience in the arena in nearly a decade. The Sabres were flying and the fans were completely bought in. I can’t remember the last time I heard so many strong “Let’s Go Buffalo!” chants, and there was a standing ovation when the period ended. Then there was the rest of the game. The Sabres didn’t need to keep our-scoring the Flyers by 4 goals per period but they completely backed off in the 2nd and played without really any urgency. There was just a smattering of applause for 2nd intermission and the Flyers almost made it 4-3 on their first shift of the 3rd. It would have been nice to not have to have Hutton bail us out again, but hopefully they learn from this. We’re good, but not nearly good enough to back off like that.
  9. Second period managed to suck all the life out of the building. Brutal. Sabres better score the next one or it feels like they’re gonna be on the wrong side of a comeback.
  10. Haven't read the thread, but just looking at this post, I have no idea which side of the argument you're on. It's almost 2019 and both sides of the debate think it's 100% self-evident that they're right.
  11. Does anyone else see Gudas’ name and immediately feel an immense sense of dread? Not because of what he can do as a player (because, really, he’s barely a hockey player) but because you know he’s only there to attempt a knee on knee hit or a flying elbow on someone like Dahlin, Jack, Casey, or Skinner? It’s unbelievable this waste of space is still in the league.
  12. Are you saying ROR has gotta be better?
  13. Game time decision for tomorrow. Not a serious injury and no broken bone in his foot.
  14. Thought they were both RW? I guess I'd be interested since Puljujarvi was taken so high and because Edmonton players generally benefit from a change of scenery but who knows with either guy at this point.
  15. “Never tell me the odds!” - Han Solo, back when Star Wars was good.
  16. Cal Peterson earns his first NHL shutout tonight as the Kings beat the Blues. I’m starting to worry St. Louis is losing their love of the game.
  17. On Earth 2... The Sabres fall behind the Penguins 4-1, and the game ends 6-2. In the post-game “I gotta be better.” *shudder*
  18. EMTs were on the ice for Trochek. Really rough night in Ottawa.
  19. Jack’s goal to cut the lead in half in overtime is my favorite so far this year. ?
