Let's just get this over with. Watching the Sabres has been painful since the 10-game streak ended. They've become the ultimate "team that finds a way to lose."

Maybe this is crazy but are UPL and Laaksonen our two best prospects outside the NHL right now?

He's basically been my favorite too since we picked him and for the same reason. The collective meltdown here when we went off the board and picked a guy that Google was telling us was like 5'9" and 140 pounds instantly had me rooting for him. I want him to succeed for the same reason I want Josh Allen to - not just for Buffalo but to prove people wrong. Check out TSN.ca. What are you supposed to do when you hate when the Sabres can't score but you also hate how they play as soon as they get a lead?

The goal to tie it late was a thing of beauty. Asplund was perched just to the side of the net and received a perfect pass from Nylander at the point to put it home. Outstanding play by our AHL Swedes. :)

I think he crashed into the net pretty hard in the Boston game so that’d make sense with back or ribs.

So we finally get a look at Smith but now Eichel may not play. Life is cruel.

I’ve completely come around on the idea of putting Reinhart back at center. (Kudos to Eleven and a few others for that.) He’ll never be a great center in the NHL but he might be enough to give us what we need for the next 40+ games. You could put Pominville or any of a handful of other guys with Skinner and Eichel and we’d probably be fine there.

Darcy also pulled off some amazing robberies at the deadline. GMTM was a complete disaster and I think we’re still waiting to see what Botterill can do.

You’re kinda late to the “Tim Murray was a terrible GM” squad but welcome aboard. ? Agree we should split up Eichel and Skinner and see if we can get 2 lines going. It’s worth a shot. We’ve lost 10 of our last 14.

So how many more days until we’re a lottery team again?

In WJC news, Laaksonen just scored for Finland.

Remi Elie’s shot on that 2 on 1 is exactly why you’d want to bring him up. And you’re just making unrelated points that have nothing to do with each other. “He might be a JAG.” ”Or he might be good.” ”But he’s not a center.” ”Yeah, obviously we could use a center too.” ”So I’m right!!!”

That’s a separate point from him being a JAG. And something you could say about basically every winger we have, including 53 and 23 It’s not like anyone will disagree with you about the Sabres needing another center. But the Sabres also need more guys that can shoot the puck.

Or he’s another Sheary. I’d love to find out. Right now it sounds like he has everything we’d normally get excited about adding to the team: speed, shooting, and smarts. Time to take him for a test drive.

Meanwhile in Rochester, CJ Smith scored again and Olofsson got the assist. Oh well.
