  1. Or maybe, just maybe, Ruff was appropriately expectant of his players and it's the players that were ######.
  2. Ha, good call. Sometimes I read them, sometimes I don't.
  3. That's a big vote of confidence right there: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=446007
  4. I was thinking this as well. I think there's also a possibility he actually turns down that job. He's smart enough to know how ###### that situation is. He may also (rightfully, I think) believe that he'll get other offers at some point. Maybe not Calgary, although he's been spotted having conversations with Burke, but somewhere.
  5. Must be less filling, because that's not great taste.
  6. Not to slight the point about how bad our roster is, but quite a few people are wondering why Ottawa couldn't trade Conacher. They gave up a decent asset in Bishop for him, and he didn't fit well in OTT, but many are still surprised Conacher couldn't attract more interest. Now, as for D'Agostini, Omark, Konopka...
  7. VICTORY!! TANK CATS SUCCEED IN NASHVILLE! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSBKZPNsK74 I'd say per dollar, he's gotta be wayyy up there.
  8. Snow's an idiot, sure. But the root cause is the stupid, stupid owner. Even if the crowd wants it, he's not going to sell, at least not before they move into their new (equally silly) digs. So even if Wang fires Snow, he would likely hire someone equally as incompetent. Maybe Anders Nilsson.
  9. There's a lot of good tank music. From the movies, I like Patton. Not from the movies, but seemingly often used, I like Holst's Mars. You could definitely sample that composition for game situations. And now that I think about it, I think a lot of marching bands play it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0bcRCCg01I Oh, and of course the cats aren't mine.
  10. Six points back, one game in hand. We need to keep building that lead. Recent victory on the Florida battlefield allowed us to recover secret cat technology, which will be deployed in battle against the Predators. RELEASE THE TANK CATS!! ONWARD!!
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOiVYbWJDOA
  12. Agreed. Cash-strapped Yotes shipped Klesla to Caps because they didn't want to pay his salary to play in the minors. Caps had to dump some salary take Halak. Klesla was headed to Rochester. No loss to let him go. No consequence to the trade. There will probably be better, cheaper college free agents we can pick up to boost the Amerks.
  13. But there's no way he's learning at a geometric rate. No way.
  14. I found this article to be really informative; http://www.wingingit...earing-up-a-faq Effectively, not meeting the cap floor is bound by the same punishments as exceeding the salary cap (non-compliance), and a team can get crushed by that (fines, forfeited picks, forfeited games, employee suspensions, and more). And the first offense carries the penalty of a mandatory fine of at least $1M (plus the $ discrepancy) and forfeiture of a first round pick. So we shouldn't do that, by any means. HOWEVER, the article points out that it's pretty easy to remain compliant, without actually spending the money. How teams can do that is detailed here: http://theleafsnatio...t-the-cap-floor The simplest way to do this is to sign entry level contracts and contracts to guys over age 35 and completely lade them with unattainable performance bonuses. Those bonuses count agaisnt the cap. The ELCs have a limit on bonuses, but it looks like the over-35 guys don't. So look for Hank Tallinder to get signed to a contract that gives him a payout if he wins MVP of the NHL All-Star Game and the Lady Byng. Personally, I think we should just throw ridiculous contracts at Ott and Callahan, and "include them in the build" as leaders. They can die on the 3rd and 4th lines at the end of their contract, for all I care, but they'll demonstrate a good level of compete as long as they can still skate.
  15. So what's the story here? Do we root for the Blues to win to convert the pick into the first rounder, but that first rounder pick ends up being bottom-four? Or do we root for Ryan Miller to sign before the draft and root against the Blues in order to bump up that pick a bit?
  16. VICTORY! Big credit to the secret weapon: Attack Zebras.
  17. Scott playing defense and Deslaurier playing wing? BWHAAA?
  18. His hand is busted up, he might be on LTIR or something. TSN lists him as "out indefinitely." Don't know why that immediately kicks him off the team roster on their page.
  19. TANK ON! Previous tanks haven't worked, time to use the old ingenuity. AA and minesweeping assets have only been partially successful. Army Air Combat Controller has tasked air assets to the theater. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQObWW06VAM
