  1. So Miller should avoid the theater for a while?
  2. Class. Sincerely, David Poile President of Hockey Operations and General Manager
  3. Never forget Gary Bettman worked for the NBA from 1981-1993, during the draft fixing, and would rise to third in command there.
  4. Imagine watching this season, alone, with no one to joke with about tanking, the benefits of losing, the high draft picks and the trading away of key players, or really any of the brighter side of this god awful ###### mess. Imagine the misery. As much as this is a place for cheering, criticism, banter, discussion, and general ######offery, it's also a support community for battered fans. Your contributions make it. Thank you, you princes and princesses of Sabre Nation.
  5. 14.2%, about 1 in 7, isn't great, but it is possible. Edmonton could win again and I'd think they'd be very lucky, but not Book Suppository material. If the Leafs won at 3.6%, about 1 in 28, I'd be pretty ###### pissed. Even the Canucks at 6.2%, about 1 in 16, would irritate the ###### out of me. Really, any team I hate or any team that didn't finish bottom-five.
  6. Yep. Zero players tanked. Some players played their guts out. The front office devised and executed the plan, which was to maximize return for expiring assets. This had the fortunate, necessary, expected, and probably planed side effect of causing the team to maximize its draft position.
  7. We should do a special GDT for the draft lottery. Some place to go batshit insane when the profitable Leafs win it.
  8. One NHL forward played as many games (58) as Ville Leino ($4M salary, $4.5M cap) and didn't score a goal. Peers: James Wright (59GP, 2A), $650k Krys Barch (55GP, 4A), $750k Colton Orr (54GP, 0A), $925k
  9. Change the draft lottery odds to discourage tanking, which would ###### us.
  10. Yeah, if that front office doesn't change, I think I lean towards wanting that 2015 pick. Let's maximize 2015.
  11. I'm so torn. I really don't want to watch this guy anymore and the buyout gives a perfect out, but he's a perfect fit as Tank Commander: no goals, plays 18 mins/game but averages less than a shot per game.
  12. Ha, yeah, Capitals also lulzed their way out of the playoffs.
  13. Neat. The chart illustrates the whole story. The team stinks under Rolston for the first 20 games, Teddy is nearly able to stop the bleeding with a terrible roster, but then the trade deadline comes and we just nose dive into a dominant tank victory.
  14. If we have to clear everyone out to change the culture, I get it. If there's anyone I feel for, it's not Doug McKenney, as I feel like improvements could be made. It's probably Jim Corsi whom I think has great experience and a lot to offer as a goalie coach.
  15. Would I be mad? Hell no. We need (at least) one more year of hardcore tanking to properly accomplish our goals. Free agency: We should bring in enough mediocre free agents to fill roster holes, and maybe some support players to be a part of the tank-to-greatness transition. Theses players may or may not be part of the eventual greatness. Ott and Moulson fit here as veteran support-type players. If we pass on those guys to really, really tank hard next year, and wait to get UFAs next year or the year after, I'm not heartbroken. Top pick: If our #1/2 overall needs a year in juniors to continue proper development, so be it- that's not an asset we can risk pooching.
  16. Thank you. I wasn't sure how may folks would get it, but I was pretty sure the ones that did would enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLEjr4eg8rA
  17. Photoshop your favorite tanking Sabres in... Not in any order: Leino, McBain, Mitchell, Tallinder, Scott?
  18. Who does that? ###### mongoloids.
  19. Some leagues are cleaner than others. Every level of play is a two-way street. Clean low level leagues, players don't care or don't have the over-the-top instinct. Dirty low level leagues, players don't have enough skill or good decision making to not take bad stick penalties. Clean high level leagues, players respect each other enough to use their skill and not play dirty. Dirty high level leagues, players think that extra toughness and the eye-for-an-eye attitude helps their team or their pride somehow. I've played all of those. I much prefer the clean fast game. It's more fun to beat -and be beaten- cleanly. The clean slow game is good if I'm coaching, teaching, or working on a few things myself.
  20. Chara don't surf.
  21. Some analysts think the best thing Garth Snow can do is give us this pick. (posted previously) http://www.freep.com/usatoday/article/7154181
  22. J Pominville, #29 in blue and gold? That's the goalie we signed for our NOJHL affiliate in Kirkland Lake.
