    Agreed, but I'd say it's at least somewhat close. If they were drafting that talent again based on how the players have developed, Matthews goes before Laine.

    Good inventory, LTS. In several instances, I see the same person carrying the titles of GM and VP/President of Hockey Ops. My sense is that JBOT is acting as the team's Hockey Ops officer, whether he carries the title or not. He's our greatest, maybe only, hope right now.

    I used to be skeptical of McDermott’s focus on getting faith-based warriors. Not so much anymore. If combined with cohesive and accurate talent evaluations, it can be a value-added element to a successful team.     This kid - Lindsey Jordan - is around the age of my oldest kid, and it was the latter who introduced me to the former. She records as Snail Mail (no idea why). I enjoyed her sound from the get-go -- and now she's looking to break through with a goofy hockey-themed music video. Go get it, kid.

    Harrington tweeted to that effect - sincerely said that the Sabres winning the lottery after a season where they stunk but had wanted to be good was karmic proof that tanking is bad. I can’t even.
