  1. The most successful professional league in the world doesn't have a draft lottery.
  2. Well that's not very nice. It feels like we're only getting half of the story tho. Find it hard to believe they would chirp her unprovoked, just because she's a woman. Edit... went back and actually read the article 😂. I believe something else happened, to provoke the taunts... maybe she baited them somehow, I've seen it happen. "Hockey is for everyone" is a great ambition, but we're not there yet... still lots of guys playing who grew up with a different game with a different culture. Not giving them a pass here, but at the same time let's not be naive.
  3. If she's complaining about not getting special treatment because she's woman, then she shouldn't play.
  4. If a woman decides to suit up for a competitive men's league game, they should expect to be treated like any other player. It's that simple. I've played in some of the top level rec leagues both in Buffalo, the bay area and down here in orange county... played against maybe 2 or 3 women at different times, and they were all studs (former college, pro, etc..). That said, my general take on rec league is the game becomes more and more chippy the lower the level. Top level, most guys played somewhere at some point and the respect level is high between players... not really much of anything between whistles, etc. I've also played down a few levels and the lack of respect blew my mind.... I've never been slashed, hooked, cross-checked as much at any time in my life. It's a gong show. When I can no longer compete at the top rec league level I'm going to hang em' up for good.
  5. This matches the eye test. The Stars are an experienced team, they know how to score in his league (traffic, secondary chances). On the otherhand, the Sabres young stars still believe they can snipe unscreened goalies from everywhere on the ice. Sure they put up 50 shots, but 95% of them are easy saves at this level. They'd score more goals by passing up those low percentage shots and instead look for ways to get more pucks and bodies to the high danger area.
  6. The thing I notice about this team, and it's primarily because they young, is they all think they can snipe an unscreened goalie from 15-20ft. They're gonna have to learn that a well placed 80mph shot through a screen from distance is more effective than a 90mph unscreened shot from 15ft. Take a little off, mix up your placement, and hit your spot. Or simply try to generate a rebound for a secondary chance. Not as sexy as a laser off the bar, but generally more effective at creating scoring chances.
  7. I'm guessing it's some type of shoulder injury. Probably kept popping out on him to some degree, could be a lingering issue from a previous injury and he finally decided enough was enough. If he has his arm in a sling we'll know for sure, not sure why they're hiding it at this point.
  8. Hold. This team is more than one or two players away. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
  9. So will he be back for the playoffs? 😂
  10. These kids need their mental break. It's just how it is these days.
  11. That would be best case scenario. In my amateurish armchair MD opinion I'm diagnosing him with a grade 3-4 subluxation.
  12. Hope it's not the same achilles. I was concerned he came back too soon.
  13. I still think Benson would've been better off playing juniors this season. He has 0 points in his last 10 and was healthied last might. Not great for his development.
  14. Agreed, same sloppy defense and casual turnovers. They'll win some games on sheer talent alone, but it's not sustainable.
  15. Try a coaching change first. If they don't respond then start by moving guys who regularly take nights off.
  16. They don't need inspiration, they need someone to hold them accountable when they fail to show up. Benchings, healthy scratches, calling guys out in front of the team, bag skates, etc... are tools used to enforce a standard of play. What is their standard and what are the repercussions if they fail to meet that standard? I have no idea.
  17. Was at the game. Wow, talk about mailing it in. The only guys who showed any fight was the Okposo line. No one else seemed to remotely care about the outcome. Two were especially poor, Tuch and Clifton. Tuch looks like a shell of the player he was last season. Injured or not, with a stat line of 0 SOG and 1 hit against a bottom feeder, he needs to be moved down the lineup. Clifton has to be one of the worst FA signings in recent memory. To fall like that under no pressure and then fail to pick anybody up on the backcheck is an all time play that's now burned into my memory. Their two best players (Thompson,Dahlin) are a team worst -10 and -13. Changes are needed.
  18. Can't blame UPL for those. Mittlestadt and Tuch should sit a period for those careless turnovers. Just absolutely unacceptable for veteran players who are supposed to be leaders on this team.
  19. might watch... mittlestadt will make wonderful moves with magical wristers
  20. I don't believe anyone gets moved. KA is not trading any of the young players and nobody else has any value on the market. With one exception... beleive a western Canadian team will make a substantial offer for Savoie.
  21. The current group of prospects fit Granato's fast break system where there's very little emphasis on defending or playing a physical brand of hockey. Bigger more physical players must be able to skate and move the puck, ala Eric Robinson.
