    Lindback is looking like the front runner for the Golden Sieve. Chad Johnson will get his chance, but Lindback has all the tools needed to make a run down the stretch here. Scrivens and Smith are also in the running, but both have too much experience, they'll struggle to compete with the dynamic duo in Buffalo.

    We've reached the bottom floor of the rebuild. They don't really have any assets (other than prospects) to trade for any value in return. It's onward and upward from here. A rebuild done the right way, I, for one, will enjoy the ride.

    Zona plays 9 of their next 10 at home. Buffalo plays only 4 hone games in March. Zona still has Gagner, Doan, OEL, and Hanzal on their roster. Yandel was a defensive liability, he scored some, but is a -32. I don't think their moves thus far are going to make them significantly worse, let alone worse than the lineup Buffalo may have.

    Another angle to all of this is that if Buffalo ends up getting the 2nd or 3rd pick, they have the assets to move up if they feel the need. It would have to be a lot, but looking at the needs in ARI and EDM, they might be willing to move down if the return is significant. Think picks plus D prospects plus others.... Assets the Sabres have that EDM and ARI don't. So in my mind it's not over until the draft actually happens.

    Eichel is leading the NCAA in scoring across the entire country as a true freshman in a league wherr most freshman at already 20 years old. McDavid is playing against teenagers. 100pts in 38 games is impressive but what Eichel is doing is just as impressive IMO. Both will be dominant.

    Hopefully it's nothing serious like some untreatable heart condition. Hockey career could be in jeopardy if it is.

    Everything is gonna be OK. Things were gonna tighten up in Feb, that was expected. The trade deadline can't come soon enough, and with 9 of 13 on the road in March we'll have a stranglehold on the top spot.

    Rough night for the CHL elite. EDM, BUF, CAR all lose. ARI gains some ground with a win on the Island. Trade deadline looming, ice cold netminders, injuries, outrageous saves from 8th string tendys.... These are certainly interesting times in the CHL.

    Forsberg had a .927 sv% in 27 games last season in the AHL. He currently sits at .864 with CBJ, but he's played < 200 minutes. That's a bit over 3 games of puck. A former teammate of Sabres prospect Linus Ullmark and Gustav Possler, he's due to find his form tonight :)

    I think Pysyk will be gone at the deadline or draft. He's not physical enough for GMTM's liking on the back-end. Sounded like he prefers McCabe, the more physical player. If Buffalo lands in the #3 spot, look for a trade down to somewhere in the 5-6 range. I would expect a 1st in 2016 to also come the Sabres way in that deal... the 2016 Auston Matthews draft where the top 3 picks are decided by lottery, will also be a very good draft at the top end. Matthews is putting up the exact same numbers Eichel last season with the NTDP.... and he's identical in stature at 6'2 194lbs. There's some talented wingers at the top of the 16' draft, Chychrun, Benson, and Jones, which is a position of need for Buffalo.

    Maybe Enroth and Neuvirth are just products of the Sabres defensive system? Enroth's save% in 3 appearances with the Stars is .865... compared to .903 with Buffalo this season. Giving up tons of shot from everywhere increases your save %. Nolan's d-zone strategy seems like he tells players to play off guys, don't play them too tight putting yourself in a position to get beat. Keep a large gap between yourself and the puck carrier such that he can't beat you to the net. However, this results in inflated shot totals for the opposition as this creates more opportunities to shoot.
