  1. A podcaster and long time NHL journalist here in Finland, who usually is reasonable and up to date and on track with what is going on in NHL, predicted Sabres as third in Atlantic. Same man predicted Luukkonen break thru and Devils goalie problems last year.
  2. It is Lindy Ruffs first games as a Sabre coach in a NHL game this era. And it is against his former team. I don't think he cares about anything but winning those games. My answer is No on Krebs and Rousek. If there are changes in the line-up for the second game, Kulich gets his chance. And I think/hope Ruff doesn't make changes on a winning team.
  3. I have a good feeling this season. Better than last year. I go with that feeling. So, hell yeah! They will make it to playoff!
  4. I think both. We needed a third line center and other teams, especially canadian, might have valued him higher than Sabres did. They had more trust in Helenius and Östlund.
  5. PP and PK might be a huge difference maker in a tight Atlantic, and unfortunately that might be what puts Bruins ahead of us, Detroit and Ottawa. Bruins players are excellent in those situations imo. (Haven't checked the stats)
  6. Funny thing with young players is that they might have that bump in their development curve. I just can't see that happening with Rosén. Not in this organisation, but a change of environment might help. That is why I think he should be part of a trade.
  7. I agree on that, I just don't see an opening in the roster where he could grab a spot. And I am just thinking he might have realized that himself also. But that doesn't mean that he can't be an NHL:er. If he keeps making points in AHL, there might be teams, even contenders, interested in him.
  8. To me, that sounds like Rosén isn't motivated. Maybe he has realized he will be stuck in Rochester the rest of his time as a Sabre?
  9. If defence has a hard time with a big, strong and fast player like Puljujärvi, it probably means more problems during the season. Something for the coaches to work on. But talking about Puljujärvi, I really hope he stays healthy, it seems he has figured out what kind of player he is, might be a big season coming. Blomqvist had a bad night, looked nervous. Not NHL ready unfortunately. But maybe his chance will come later, he did it great in AHL last season.
  10. Besides another Sabres season, what I am most excited about the coming NHL season is Penguins goalie prospect Joel Blomqvist. He is born in the same small town I was, and I really hope he get to play His first NHL games this season.
  11. Only the finns, the swedes are those pretty boys 😅
  12. Is this a season with some luck, with key-players injured before the season instead of during the season?
  13. Lindell has agreed to a five year extension with Stats. AAV said to be around 5,25 milj.
  14. Great to start the season with a victory. Kulich even better than expected.
  15. I am more interested in Rasmus Andersson, but if Calgary would retain 3 milj. per year I would take Kadri.
  16. A sad Day for the Gaudreau family and for hockey as a sport. What a tragedy.
  17. SHL is definitely better than Liiga. The rinksize is bigger so they might need more time to adjust instead. Östlund reminds me in some way of Teräväinen, who also played C as young, but then was moved to the wing.
  18. Thanks, I never even bothered to check McKennas position, just took for granted he played center, as the players he is compared to. And I really hope Penguins not win the lottery, it is someone elses turn now.
  19. Oh, McGroarty as their 2C and McKenna as 1C.
  20. Penguins might be tanking to get McKenna. Some rumours say this is Malkins last season.
  21. Possible, but I think the addition of Helenius will push Kulich or Östlund to play wing.
  22. I think his breed should be translated about as their prospect. I have hard to find the right words for that in English. Tappara is not expecting him to play in Liiga this season as it seems.
  23. Kamala is the finnish word for horrible. Hope she isn't.
  24. I think Sabres finally not force young players into a line-up. Now they have to show consistent high level games over a whole season to earn a chance to be a full time NHL player. To me that is a sign that GM finally see the team as a playoff team, and I did not have this good feeling this time last year. The thing that made me excited reading the article is that Helenius might be the go to guy at faceoffs in the end off the games we have been missing. But that is in the future.
