Can't be because the owner is essentially trying to run this team on a budget, so there is no commitment from the top to win. I mean, they still draft pretty freaking well considering they only do video scouting now but that has to show up somewhere in terms of not getting the right mix of players.

Division games are never easy. Even the Kelly led Bills had nightmare games against the Patriots who were similarly terrible back then as they are now. Andre Tippett and Ronnie Lippett used to be Kelly's personal Boogiemen on defense. Lots of ugly 13-9, 16-13 type games against them. Bills didn't seem up for it after the Lions game and also didn't want to "show their hand" too much with plays according to Allen so they basically ran things that everyone knows they run a lot which obviously makes it easier to stop, especially when you are not executing particularly well to begin with.

The defense is not going to shut down teams. They simply are not good enough anymore to do that. Even when they were good enough to shut teams down and were the number 1 or 2 defense in the NFL, in the playoffs it didn't matter and they got torched. This happened multiple seasons. As they are built right now on D, they survive on takeaways and forcing FG once teams get into the red zone(which has not been working lately). They are very poor at 3rd down D, ranking 26th in the NFL at allowing teams to convert. That's one of the main reasons they struggle. Teams convert 3rd downs far too easily against them, even on 3rd and long.

That's why we are in this position in the first place. None of these players ever played structured hockey while here before.

Why? it's not getting overturned, we already lost a challenge for the same thing earlier this year and it was far less incidental of a push than that was.

Unreal...we have watched as nobody clears the front of the net over and over and now when Samuelson DOES clear the front of the net, he pushes the guy into the goalie and causes him to fall down and not be able to make the save... Whatever can go wrong for this team will go wrong...it's honestly unbelievable at this point. I literally think this team is cursed

It seems like Pegula doesn't care whether the GM is actually good at his job, it seems as if he wants a GM that does what he tells him to do... Remember when Botterill was fired quickly after a Kim Pegula press conference saying he would be back with the team...then suddenly he is fired and we are told it was because the Pegula's "felt like they weren't being heard." Botterill essentially refused to fire and gut the scouting staff so the Pegula's fired him and replaced him with KA who then quickly gutted the scouting staff and who Pegula feels very comfortable with. Why? Because he does what Pegula asks of him.

I mean this is the stuff that happens only when you are at an all-time low. You score a goal, but not only is it disallowed, a double minor for high sticking is called against you that wasn't called on the ice. Not sure I've ever seen a team this snake bit before and that includes the tank teams.

I am not sure how to interpret this...seem as if they are saying there was a deal in place for Greenway but due to his injury status he is not able to be moved now? Let's be real for a second here...the NHL's business model is completely broken. Only 6 teams actually make a profit. That's absurd. So effectively 26 teams either break even or lose money? Expecting owners to pump in 30-40-50 million year after year of their own money is not a model that even makes any sense. No NFL team loses money. Pretty sure the only reason an NBA team loses money is because they go way over the luxury tax cap trying to win a championship. MLB is similar to the NHL with the haves and have nots in terms of revenue and spending but even they have some sort of revenue sharing model. It's absurd for the NHL to operate their business with a model where under 20% of teams make money. Why are the players getting such a large revenue share when teams are struggling to make money? This isn't the NFL where all player contracts are set by a salary cap based on TV revenue that essentially is free payroll for owners. The NHL is way, way too reliant on game day activities like ticket sales, concessions and parking. That makes up 56% of NHL revenue. The NFL makes 65% of its money from National TV contracts, close to $13 Billion. Almost double what the NHL makes in total revenue from all streams. Is it any wonder why teams are constantly moving around? They need to fix their business model..I sure as hell am not blaming an owner because he doesn't want to maximize his losses.

I find that hard to believe considering he grew up loving and listening to the Sabres and cried at the press conference when he saw Gilbert Perreault there and told him he was his hero. Not knowing what to do or doing the wrong things doesn't equate to not caring. He simply doesn't understand how to do things in hockey the way he does in football.
