What stuck out to me is the “building block” along with Dahlin. Probably nothing but only one current player named?

Maybe Lindy reached out and couldn’t get any takers? Or, was part of his job to evaluate the coaches in our system? Or…..were they dictated to him as he really had no other options?

I’m with Weave, knowing the make up this team not sure any coach could be successful. Regarding Appert as the heir apparent; if we don’t make playoffs this year I don’t believe KA will have a voice about the next coaching staff.

As far as adapting it looked to me it took Lindy 2/3 of the season before he said screw the defensive structure I’m trying to teach and went to Granato hockey. Thats when they had their uptick if I recall. DG and LR both couldn’t get a team D going. Cost Donnie his job and Lindy fared even worse. Just my opinion.

Serious question for you or anyone with an opinion on Power. Is there an NHL comparable within the last 20 or so years you feel Power will grow into? I keep coming back to Tyler Meyers given the size and temperament - and I don’t mean that as a negative.

Did KA hire his successor for an eventual transition to P0HO? I thought the advisor to GM was merely a rumor but obviously not. If the former, this makes sense to ensure a smooth transition and prevents a ‘new guy’ from playing cowboy and blowing everything up.

This rumor makes less sense the more I think about it. What would an “advisor” to KA actually tell him that isn’t obvious? He (KA) could turn on the radio, read SabreSpace, listen to the ushers, STH, etc and he’d hear a very common theme about team needs. Hopefully Ruff and the coaching staff would also be aligned with what we need. Can’t see an outside source with reporting only power making an impact. Maybe to leverage relationships around the league? That I could see. I’d think if Pegula is looking for an advisor it would be reporting to him.

After the palm tree and taxes presser I’d guess the corporate strategy would be silence is golden. Answer questions as briefly as possible.

Those 3 instantly change the culture of this team. All tough players who hit.

Maybe take on Kreider’s contract as part of a multi-player deal? Cuylle, Kreider, Borgen for JJ and?

I too was thinking if they were that high on JJ a sign and trade would be something to work on.

I was looking at it from the Panthers side and was wowed by their lack of let up late in the 3rd with a huge lead. Very impressive. What a culture.

Might be a blessing the Amerks let in 5 goals in front of the brain trust.

The only thing I can think of is Lindy and KA sold TP on a plan but said they needed help implementing it. Or TP told them they needed help. The experienced GM thing might (hopefully) indicate he/they feel a need for stronger relationships with other GMs, agents and team execs to get deals done. Again, spitballing.

Still under contract. Has been paid a lot of money for OJT. Replacing GMs hasn’t worked yet. Gun shy about doing it again. With the current roster there’s no guarantee a new GM could make a short term improvement. Might as well wait a year until contract is expired. Lindy and KA may have convinced TP they know the roster issuers and have a plan to address. Let the contracts work themselves out and prove to next year’s candidates he’s not a hatchet man. Plan is to bring in a POHO and let him/her figure it out. Just spitballing.

Not defending him but those 155 games were all in front of one of the worst team defenses I’ve seen. KA wants a pack mentality?? Look at our d men and who fits the description? Dahlin and Clifton? That’s it. I don’t think you can change the personality of the others into an aggressive wolf pack. We need some big, nasty boys on D AND a 1a / 1B in goal. To paraphrase Zucker, we can’t rely on “hope” UPL is the guy.

I’d take Zucker out on the yacht for a few days and see if I could get inside info on the team and coaching staff. Some people are too nice to throw others under the bus so I’d stock up on some amarone to loosen up the conversation. In vino veritas.
