If Byram gets traded don’t we revert to needing a top 4 D man again? Unless we get an offer that knocks our socks off there’s no need to trade him.

I imagine TP’s daughter is getting an earful of “you need a better face to the franchise” at the governors meeting. This could justify kicking KA up to a behind the scenes role (POHO?) and promoting Jarmo to GM and new face to the public. A strong off season could facilitate that.

I think Sabres may have paid a little goodwill for now, but I like the trade. KA is finally adding the types of players needed to succeed. Add these two to Dahlin, Tage, Tuch, Zucker, and Norris and we are building a proper NHL core. As good as JJ is on O, we needed a trade like this. We’re a better team today.

Guessing JJ wanting out was a mutual feeling with Lindy with Hamilton saying JJ didn’t like Lindy. Wild guess is they disagreed over defense. Ignoring the return (and as a wise poster above mention 30 other GMs had a chance to offer more), this trade seems to trend our team toward playing NHL type hockey.

If JJ gets offer sheeted we’ll end up with ~ $30M of our cap between JJ, Muel, Power, and Norris. In about 3 years that may be a deal but it’s a stretch for next season.

Needs to delegate any press meetings to Jarmo. Starting building back credibility for the Sabres brand.

Not necessarily sticking up for Mule, but if he jumps in and gets his a$$ kicked does that make TT feel any better? Fire up the team? The problem is roster makeup. Size doesn’t equal toughness or grit on this team. I actually feel for Tuch when he feels obligated to jump in and do something he’s not very good at.

I think the Rangers would turn down the JJ trade Pono proposed.

I’m with Weave, knowing the make up this team not sure any coach could be successful. Regarding Appert as the heir apparent; if we don’t make playoffs this year I don’t believe KA will have a voice about the next coaching staff.
