  1. Sure hope that 11-9 incredible finish to the season carries over.
  2. The young ‘uns are sitting on the bench next to the coach that stressed their development in Rochester, so I can see how they’d fall into that comfort zone. TBH, I think the interviews fall into the word salad category and what pops into their heads are parting words from coaches and GM. Lots of “we need to look in the mirror” comments yesterday - too many to be a coincidence. I thought Rasmus’ interview was most telling by the way he held back. Purely my speculation, but it seemed to indicate there’s a handful that didn’t pull their own weight.
  3. I’d like to see two big physical D men brought in which would likely require Byram going out. Question: could JBD hold the fort on PP2 if Power misses time at the beginning of next season? My thinking is I’d be less afraid of that than going into next season without the 2 D men I feel we need.
  4. Im playing for 5th place in my fantasy league and saved all my moves for today and starting an all Sabres line-up! Only players who weren’t available were Tage, Tuch and Ras.
  5. Surprised NHL allowed this time - could possibly overshadow the start of the playoffs. Giving credit where credit is due what better time to hold the P.C. then when you’ll get the fewest possible people watching live? Too obvious to hold it at 3AM.
  6. I wouldn’t read anything into this foretelling the future of their place in the organization. It’s business as usual until it’s not. Didn’t Doug Whaley take one for the team at the end of his tenure? Not positive on that.
  7. All we need is a new buzzword. Accountability didn’t do the job so gotta “think outside the box” for a new one.
  8. My concern / fear is the assistant coaches only taking the fall for this mess. I could see the message saying it’s all on the D structure and PP or we’d have been in the running. It’s past time for major changes and no excuses.
  9. I’ve saved the NYT crosswords for Sabres games. Kind of like the granny’s knitting during grandkid games. Not much to see anymore. Nothing like the Habs and Hawks last night which was great viewing.
  10. I’d tell my new POHO to have at it. One stipulation would be to keep Dahlin and as a reward for his hustle he can pick 2 friends to keep on the team.
  11. You have to wonder if their internal goals differ from what they say to the public. Every pre-season projection that I listened to had Sabres missing the playoffs. I have to believe playoffs were a stretch goal at best, and not an expectation.
  12. Tired of watching Sabres getting their $$$es kicked every time they stick up for a teammate.
  13. Check it out on insta - no way Panther was going for the puck. Just lining up Kulich. Was interference and targeting.
  14. Thank-you KA for putting targets on your young uns. Get a big nasty SOB before these kids get permanently damaged.
  15. Was he Skating Away? On the thin ice of a new day?
  16. last night should cure that: -Conceding the puck when equi-distant as the opposing player -forwards leaving the D zone before the D had clean - collapsing in d zone under heavy forecheck We were in mid season form
  17. I’m thinking if Marner goes anywhere it’ll be to a team he thinks can be a cup contender not merely a contender to get into the playoffs. Sabres drastically need to build credibility.
  18. Getting out hustled to loose pucks. I guess it’s not worth the contact to them
  19. Zone entries have improved exponentially since first 2/3 of the season
  20. Years ago I was a STH for the Syracuse Crunch and most of that time we were the farm team for Columbus. They were bottom feeders and a very soft team. Sound familiar? In 2007 Columbus made a trade of minor leaguers with Anaheim. Going to Anaheim were Mark Hartigan and Joe Motko. Going to Syracuse from Portland were Curtis Glencross and Zenobia Konopka. At the time Portland’s coach lauded the incredible leadership of Knopka. That one trade completely turned around the culture and on ice performance of the Crunch. Konopka’s NHL compare would be an AHL version of Brady Tkachuk. My point is there is hope. We need upgrades but we also need a guy who will knock down walls for his teammates.
