analytically he’s one of the top forcheckers in the game + he has very good size. A very late bloomer (went undrafted in his first year of eligibility which is shocking given his name) so let’s hope he develops as a decent scorer. I don’t expect him to approach Peterka’s numbers but if he can get to 70% of peterka’s offense that would be a huge win

Dahlin isn’t good playing defense? Interesting. And it’s not like the Sabres aren’t going play a player in JJ’s place. I’m not optimistic but I’m not irrationally negative either

Let’s give power a real d partner this year and see what happens. He’s still young and it took Dahlin a while too. Granted he’s never going to use his size like we want but hopefully his d-zone awareness can improve with a partners who isn’t hideous

The more I study the analytics of this trade, the more I think it could end up being like the McLeod trade. The two guys we got really have limited NHL exposure but very good analytics. Peterka is lethal offensively but unless he grasps playing D, he’ll be a skinner type - flashy stats but is just good enough to help you lose. hopefully we add another forward. Would love signing Byram (even for the two year arbitration amount) and trading futures for a Rust type

I didn’t follow savoie’s AHL year last year but it’s a trade that prob can work out for both teams. I still think if EDM would have kept McLeod they would have had a good chance to win the cup than what. No reason for them to trade him and he would have given them a ton more than skinner did

Botterill was a disaster choice by Pegula - esp when he could have had zito. Pegula lucked into Beane but screwed the pooch on this one

Doubtful as any team trading for him would prefer term at a higher cost than 2 years at 6m or so and UFA after that. It’s fine for Adams cuz in 2 years it will be Jaro’s problem

We feel one f short, one d short, 1 goalie short and 1 gm short. Not trying to be cute, it’s what I honestly think. if we keep Byram, than d is good, if we trade Byram it’ll depend on the return, of course

I think the goaltending situation is slightly better as is the defense (if they keep Byram). I think Forwards are the same (for different analytical reasons) to slightly worse. I do not think this is a playoff team - remember they’d have to be 16 points or so better than last year and, for the most part, the teams immediately on front of them in the standings got betters. so, I would imagine the team ends up in the mid to high 80s, doesn’t make the playoffs, Adams and Ruff aren’t retained, Jaro Becomes GM and choices his own coach

No reason really. Probably cant be worse though. Doan has some scoring upside that none of the others do
