I have high hopes for Neuchev and Novikov looks promising. We will see what comes if Poltapov.

Eklund wrote this and I think we all think the same about that guy but I thought this was an interesting take: ”Korpisalo and Gavrikov to the Kings…. This trade was painful, because it meant moving a team icon in Quick. It risked alienating your entire rooster who worshipped Quick…But all that has happened since is the Kings win games. 9-0-3 in their last twelve. They are now firmly in the playoffs and gunning for the division… Who else needed to make this trade? The Buffalo Sabres. If the Sabres make the same move I believe they too would be firmly in the playoffs… The Sabres are still in the hunt, but barely..The fact is this was the Sabres race to lose…They have been wildly inconsistent, but so have the Islanders, Panthers, and Penguins.. Had the Sabres firmed up their keeper with Korpisalo and added experience in the shutdown Gavrikov, they would be easily in that top wildcard spot. They would have had to give up their first….but I would have to essentially get this team in the playoffs and accelerate their growth..”

I have agreed with this for a while and it is why I mentioned earlier about trading the pick for the right piece. If we end up at 13th or 14th and say Calgary calls and offers Rasmus Andersen for the pick I think I make that deal. 26 year old RHD signed for 4 years at $4.5, puts up good numbers and can slide right next to Power. If Nashville is willing to move Saros and say Fabbro I’m not hesitating to throw the 1st into a large package to make that deal. Has to be the right piece coming back but the Sabres just drafted 3 studs last year so if Adams can get the right piece back I wouldn’t be upset with moving the picknif If it is in the teens.

Developing top young prospects in Rochester has worked well the past couple seasons. If they could have Levi, Östlund, Novikov, Johnson? join the team that would be something.

I can see him in a couple years being Skinner’s replacement. Top 6 goal scoring winger. He still has growing and more developing to do but that is the spot you hope he eventually gets to. -
Best case scenario would be he becomes Power’s partner on the 2nd pair. Most likely he will be a 3rd pairing NHL guy. Will be a lot of teams interested in him so I wouldn’t get my hopes too high. 23 year old undrafted college players rarely make it beyond depth pro players although a few breakthrough.

Sidebar: Jiri Kulich and his 18yr old AHL season
Flashsabre replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
What Kulich is doing at 18 is super impressive. He is coming on too as the year winds down. Hopefully he gets a playoff run. Kid is a warrior. Rosen who is a year older is having a good year in the AHL as a teen but Kulich is blowing him away being a year younger. Hats off to Appert, Peca and company for the developmental work they have done with the likes of Quinn, JJ, Kulich, Rosen etc. -
Hopefully. Someone mentioned a few games a go that he took a shoulder to the face and was down and then got up angrily. Hopefully it wasn’t concussion related.

https://theathletic.com/4342660/2023/03/25/devon-levi-sabres-goalie-expectations-juuse-saros-predators/ Saros studies Levi as a goalie. Its fate to bring Saros to Buffalo this summer.😀

GDT : Sabres at Islanders 3-25-2023 5 PM - ESPN+/Hulu, WGR

LOL this team is an absolute roller coaster. All credit to Comrie and the Sabres today. They plodded through and found a way to win. You can tell Tage isn’t 100% but he gutted it out. No idea what the last 10 games will look like. Hopefully more like the last two days. I hope Levi gets in at some point and shows strongly. -
Definitely fire Granato now😛

They showed the Sabres coming down the hall. Tage looked like he was hurting, stopped and started walking back to the bench to talk to someone. Wouldn’t be surprised if he is done for the game. -

Fixing The Forward Group - For this season and next
Flashsabre replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Greenway will be back. Mitts, VO, Zemgus, Okposo, Jost could all be changed for different players. In house you will have Rousek, Savoie and Kulich pushing for jobs. I think Rousek gets a spot. They need defensive C that is great at the dot and on the PK. Some more grit in the bottom 6 would be nice too. A couple vet 1 year deals probably as Savoie and Kulich will be ready the following year for sure. 2 vet dmen that can settle down the d zone and a starting goalie are musts. No projects or reclamation projects. Outside of a starting goalie, this isn’t heavy lifting. The top 2 lines are set, the young core dmen are in place. Adams and crew have to add properly to the group. -
Jack Quinn is on the verge of something awesome
Flashsabre replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
When Quinn has his flashes you see a player that can be dominant. Quinn’s 2nd year in the OHL and 2nd year in the AHL is when he exploded. Watching him play right now it looks like that trend will continue. A little more strength and a little more confidence and he is going to do some damage in this league. He already has built in chemistry with both JJ and Cozens. Yes those Quinn draft threads are amusing. People got so caught up in the centre be it Rossi or Lundell. At the end of the day I think Quinn has more upside then both. -
GDT : Devils at Sabres 3-24-2023 7 PM - MSG, WGR
Flashsabre replied to spndnchz's topic in The Aud Club
No it’s not. They are young. Quinn looks ready to explode. Cozens is knocking on 30 goals. They are a solid goalie and 2 vet dmen away from being a playoff threat. If you hate them then pick another team. -
Gavrikov is the best dman on the list. He would play top 4. Adams needs to find 1-2 quality vet dmen that can settle things down in the dzone. They need quality guys though, not projects or reclamation projects. Gavrikov Dahlin Power Mayfield Muel Boosh would put this team in the playoff with a solid goalie behind them.

GDT : Devils at Sabres 3-24-2023 7 PM - MSG, WGR
Flashsabre replied to spndnchz's topic in The Aud Club
There was a play in the first where Okposo got it behind our net with little pressure and threw it right in front to a Devils forward. UPL had to make a great save. I watched the Devils feed and they couldn’t believe the amount of turnovers the Sabres made in their own zone. They were very complimentary of the Sabres young guns and said they are a goalie and couple vet dmen away from being a force. I think best case scenario for this team is Levi gets in next week, looks good and they put together a little run to end the season. -
Granato said postgame that Tage is questionable for tonight. Crazy they have gone all season without calling up a forward. Hopefully Rousek gets in and shows his wheels. He has a chance as a bottom 6 winger next season.
-
Savoie didn’t play tonight. Hopefully nothing too serious. Apparently Rousek left after the Amerks game with his equipment in a Sabres bag. Hopefully he is getting a callup.

The Sabres have entered the Connor Bedard sweepstakes...
Flashsabre replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
Sabres have never moved up in a draft lottery. This is the year to cash in that chip.😀 -
For crying out loud they were on pace for 85 to 90 points and were playing meaningful games into March. What is pulling the goalie going to do? Putting the other crappy goalie in will magically stop all the high danger chances being given up? Yes the wheels have fallen off recently but let’s not pretend this team has been horrible all season.
