I wonder how many people on this board are aware that the single biggest sporting institution in the nation directly to our south is Chivas and that they achieved that status through a policy of refusing to sign any non Mexican player? This isn't an argument for something like this but merely an observation that something that makes people in North America recoil in horror is actually quite common in much of the world (Bilbao is Spain is another example, Rangers pre Judas is another).

Has anyone bothered to ask why he wasn't shut down weeks earlier when it was obvious the season was toast and thrown out there where he took a hit that turned an injury into a catastrophe?

This team is in no position to do another speculative high risk/high reward coaching hire. They need someone who is a solid professional with a lengthy track record of getting results. There is a guy who would essentially be manna from heaven clearly interested in the job but the worst owner in modern hockey history will have none of it (which is why he is the worst owner in modern hockey history).

The Sabres are the only team to my knowledge who were given the OK to let in fans and only did so for select dates. The first game letting in fans drew just over 300 people. If you don't think the STH base is going to implode then you are just ignoring reality. This is the worst organization in the modern history of the sport and it's only going to get worse until the Pegulas are no longer owners because not only haven't they learned from their mistakes they feel like they haven't done anything wrong.
