  1. That's cold.
  2. Christie looks awful on the Today show this morning. His Jersey shore, a national treasure, was just smashed. Good luck to everyone in NJ
  3. I hate when facts get mixed into discussions..:-)
  4. Waiting for daylight to see what happened. We got an incredible amount of rain and wind yesterday. Still raining here until mid day. Winds still blowing in the 20s. We now have high tide and south winds pushing water up the bay. First reaction seems to be that MD came through this pretty well. 200,000 out of power mostly in my county. We of course also have to survive all the water coming down the Susquehanna River. Flooding is everywhere, but that as expected. Daylight will tell a lot. We're still under a state of emergency until 12 today. Chance of snow too....
  5. So far, no. This really is a good show.
  6. That's good news for Philly indeed. The eye is going right over us in a few hours. Will be interesting to see the Jersey Shore in the AM. Storm doesn't seem so scary at night. Good thing I can't see my trees. The wind is still howling..
  7. Stunned the power is still on. Wind is crazy... Eye is now projected to pass right by us in MD. Next several hours are going to be the real deal for us... Have widespread power outages in my area. Love the photo of Statue of Liberty. That's a keeper... Could be used by loser on 8 Nov...
  8. I went back and froze the image. It doesn't look like her. Interesting storyline if it is....
  9. The winds here are impressive.. Without a doubt, I'm going to lose my trees. They are bending over and touching the ground before they bounce back up. It's really cranking up now...
  10. I echo this. I think the larger issue is that Obama's policies are probably complicit in what happened. He didn't want to been seen as intervening in another country. Therefore, he deliberately kept the US foot print low. That Embassy was astonishingly vulnerable and easy to attack. THAT SHOULD BE THE ISSUE. How could you leave it so vulnerable?
  11. What has amazed me is my Directv is still working. I lose signal seemingly every times it rains. It's hanging in there. Oh, and this.. I didn't know my trees could bend that much...
  12. Same here. Sump goes off every few minutes. Has me really nervous if/when power goes out. So far, so good..... Of course the lights will wait until after dark to go out.
  13. One good thing about this storm, we will have clear air for a few days in the mid Atlantic..
  14. The NWS hasn't said it yet, but the Baltimore crew is showing the eye wall is reforming indicating that it is indeed strengthening. Weather folks are all geeked up in this region. We have blizzard warnings in Western MD, flooding potentially in all counties and significant rain totals everywhere. Landfall this afternoon in Southern Jersey. It's not hitting us direct, but it's damn close.
  15. True that. Forgot about Philly. A big suppression of votes in Philly could bring PA from no chance to perchance..
  16. And oh so predictable as a story line.......
  17. Don't disagree with anything you say. NJ, DE, MD, MA, CT and NY will still be solidly Demo land. But a week of punishing news reports on bad response will break bad for the President, even in Ohio. Obama needs to deny Romney VA as it is critical to Romney's bid. Obama can't seed VA like he did NC this week. If it goes well, and I hope it does, people will give the credit to their local response.
  18. I was disappointed with last night's show. Now they have split the show into two independent story lines. Seems like they will alternate between the two each week. Also wasn't keen how a bunch of soldiers get snuck up on in Zombie country and slaughtered.
  19. I see you're up in north Jersey. I lived in North Jersey for 10 years. Flooding is always a big concern in that area. Yeah, NJ is going to take a beating. My father grew up in Philly. So as long as I can remember, we've been going to the "Shore". I really fear for Ocean City, NJ and the local communities which is close to a third home to me as far as I'm concerned. I really worry for the beauty of the Jersey shore.
  20. If the US response is too slow though, you might get the now proverbial, "You're doing a helluva job Brownie, errr, Mr President". This can only break bad for the President IMHO. Every politician will tell you there is no greater risk to job security than response to storms, be it wind, rain or snow. The interesting thing for me as I said earlier is this storm is hitting Obama and not Romney votes. Obama has millions of votes at risk in VA, MD, NJ, DE, NY, CT, MA and ME. Romney's votes are south and west of the storm. The other interesting thing will be VA. I doubt the Presidential election will get any coverage over the next few days. So I agree that this might freeze the campaigns in the east.
  21. Sandy is on here in MD. Looks like she has passed the mouth of the Chesapeake before turning left. Still hours away from really feeling it and already have rain falling an inch per hour. Lights are still on and the sump pump is working. Wish I had a generator.
  22. Wow.. Maryland is shutting down the state already and the storm is still 26 hours away.
  23. That was a great game..
  24. To each his own.
  25. To each his own. I think Bill Maher is not funny and is a blowhard. He's as unwatchable to me as Chris Matthews or Rush Limbaugh is.
