  1. The MD Republican Party just sent me a flyer telling me how to vote on all seven ballot questions on Tuesday. How handy. They suggest I take it to the poll so I will know how to vote on Tuesday. For the record, they're against gay couples at the gaming tables but do support heterosexual couples losing their mortgage at gaming tables.
  2. Anybody notice that after the Obama-Christie visit, that Christie has all but disappeared off the airways? I see he is about to do a brief. Got me thinking. After Obama used him last week to get his bipartisan moment, that's been the end of him. So CNN chose to cover Michelle Obama in Ohio railing against cuts to Big Bird and bypassed the Christie briefing. Call me crazy, but why should Michelle Obama gets deference over Christie under the circumstances?
  3. I imagine every job is tougher than it first seems. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try. A generator in NYC is a valuable resource. Especially one that is sitting there as a backup.. Could they be used for a nursing home? Could they be used to power a gas station so gas could be pumped? I don't know, but I sure as heck know they have some purpose other than to keep the lights on in the press tent.
  4. Even after..
  5. I have no problem denying convicted felons the right to vote. I'm surprised they can at all..
  6. He's not making sound judgements. How can you stand in front of the world and tell people that a race was more important than search and rescue? How can you provide power to a press tent over a hospital? He says the race won't divert resources, but hundreds of police officers are needed to block the roads. Can you think of something more important than road blocks they could be doing right now? He expended a lot of political capital on the race and was rebuked by both the Manhattan and Staten Island Burough Presidents.
  7. Glad to see the race was called off. When the story broke that they had 3 generators in Central Park to heat and light the press tent that showed me how out of touch City Hall was. One of those generators was a backup. Meanwhile two hospitals shut down for lack of generators. It was reported that one generator could light 40 homes. I get it is hard to turn your back on 340M, but people are in real trouble there. They should have postponed it until spring. My prediction is that as soon as the power is restored in Manhattan, Staten Island will be forgotten just like certain poor wards were in New Orleans. Bloomberg needs to go.
  8. As was the case in New Orleans, not everyone has the resources to leave. This hit Staten Island. Working class folks living day to day, check to check. I'd find a way to leave, but please understand not everyone has the ability to do so.
  9. Obama is busy. He has given the SAME speech three times in Ohio today... He's a very busy man.
  10. If he said that, then this is all on him. No wonder he didn't want the President to go to NYC.
  11. Just move the route from Staten Island. No brainer..
  12. That's interesting. Romney, same old, same old in his speech today too.
  13. I hadn't heard that. CNN just aired a segment from a Staten Island where a resident was screaming at Schumer, "we're dying here!". That segment followed Obama in Ohio telling everyone what a good job they were doing. Compelling TV..
  14. Just listened to Obama in Ohio. Same old, same old. Obama should be in Staten Island today, not Ohio. The analogies between New Orleans and Staten Island are striking.
  15. I'll watch CNN. They do the best job of having left/right politics represented.
  16. So what is the more significant number, unemployment rate or jobs creation rate?
  17. Good reference. Nice to see..
  18. Touché. Anyone have a breakdown of where the jobs were created? Service industry, medical, manufacturing, construction, seasonal?
  19. That's funny.. This is a glass half full/ half empty point of view. I personally think the unemployment number is more significant than the number of people who found employment at Taco Bell.
  20. Final jobless report not good for Obama. Unemployment up to 7.9.
  21. I think a healthy country supports multiple points of view.
  22. For the first time all season, we are getting Presidential ads on our TVs. Curious timing. We've been inundated with Question 6 and 7 here which are table gaming and gay marriage.
  23. Considering it starts in Staten Island, it really is bad form.
  24. They're saying it will turn out to sea. That was what the Baltimore weather was saying tonight.
