  1. In MD, we use electric voting booths. So yeah, that would make things interesting here. I doubt we have paper ballots here. So you Electoral scholars out there, could they postpone voting on the seaboard if this knocks the area back?
  2. Obama is counting on Northern Virginia (NOVA) to deliver enough votes to help him win VA. This storm may accomplish what the GOP couldn't, suppress the vote. This storm in fact is taking direct aim at his strong hold of votes, NOVA, MD, DE, PA (Philadelphia), NJ and NYC .. This storm will have a significant impact on the race, no doubt. Between Richmond, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Trenton, Newark, NYC, Hartford, and Boston, that's a lot of Obama votes at risk.
  3. CNN is suggesting the storm could stall for a few days. We could be seeing unprecented flooding in VA, MD, DE, PA and NJ.
  4. Just brought my kids in from trick or treating at a local church. Massive, and I mean massive turnout based on weather here. To show you I'm really as independent as I say I'm on here, I had one dressed as Reagan and the other as Clinton. Got compliments from everyone. Reagan head, skeleton body.. :-)
  5. You first. Step right up.. And if you're done, line your kids up.
  6. There is no path, no path, for the Republicans to take the Senate.
  7. Au contrarie Pierre. As soon as you walk in, a sign says "We have no D-Cells". As I said, you can't find a D-cell battery anywhere in my county.
  8. People are taking notice here in MD. There is not a D-cell battery to be found anywhere. We've provisioned. I'm preparing for 7 days without power. 4 of the tracks have this storm coming directly at us (within 50 miles). I'm just hoping we get through Sunday night before CrapTV goes out. I'd hate to miss Homeland, Walking Dead and the Mentalist.
  9. You guys have spent more time talking a bout abortions than the campaigns have.
  10. I know Obama is voting early. I wonder why this break in tradition isn't getting more attention/reaction. It's a time honored tradition for the candidates to go to their polling place on Election Day. The early voting, if you believe what you read, is strongly favoring Obama. Obama's margin for victory could very well be sealed by Hispanics and early voters.
  11. My gut tells me 1 Jan is start of season..
  12. Add into that a full moon increasing tides. This could be fun. Some models now show it coming right up the Chesapeake dropping right on top of us here. Time to clear the yard of objects.
  13. Touché. But then again, I'm not voting for Romney. My vote will be whether I want to return Obama to office or not. This election for me is whether I think Obama has enough ideas to turn things around. He's the incumbent. He needs to prove he's up to the task.
  14. I was hooked the first episode. Also the Showtime episodes are a full hour vice the networks who add 20 minutes of commercials in. Showtime is an awesome network. They have my other favorite show, The Borgias. Episodes is another one I like.
  15. It's basically a monster nor'easter..
  16. The fact that Obama needs so much support from Clinton to WIN is what bothers me. He should be able to run on his own record. He can't. He needs to bring in the former President to help with a constituency that should be locked in on him. Forgetaboutit. The fact that Romney has a chance is as big an indicator of this country's uneasiness with his Presidency as any metric I can cite.
  17. Could be the October surprise. Last year we had snow in MD on Halloween and then not again. Redux?
  18. Honestly, I think the embassy funding cuts are a red herring. You aid in the destabilization of a country. Your ambassador tells you it is unstable. You do nothing. What did you think was going to happen? There are all kinds of things that could have been done and were not. Obama didn't want to position Americans in Libya. That decision aided and abetted in leaving the embassy vulnerable. It was a chance he took. But remember, the bucks stop here.
  19. You are not wrong.
  20. That was a curious line in the debate.
  21. What does this mean in practical terms? Saying the buck stops with me is his way of insulating his administration for as long as possible. He's not going to resign if found culpable, so you might as well say, so what. And the buck won't stop with him, Petraeus or Clinton will be long gone before he is. These are really hollow words.
  22. Will be very interested to see if Romney can make a dent in Obama's midwest firewall. It was a very interesting tactic Romney employed the other night in the debate. So Obama strategists told him he needed to "junk yard dog" Romney and Romney's strategists told him to be calm, cool, collective and agreeable. You could see Obama staring at Romney as the words fell out of Romney's mouth. The expression on Obama's face told it all. He couldn't believe what Romney was saying and it showed he had a hard time processing it.
  23. My take was it was revenge. After all, Sadam tried to take out his whole family when they went to Kuwait. The Bush clan was there to receive an honorarium from Kuwait for liberating them. Sadam had a hit out on his father, mother, kids, etc. It was foiled, but GWB never forgot.
  24. I love the show. Wish they hadn't outed him so soon. Last week I was annoyed with a few major glaring issues 1. A junior congressman would not have been in that room. 2. He never would have had a cell phone in that room. 3. It was 5pm in DC so how was it mid day in Beirut! Dont miss the obvious stuff...
  25. So I've thought about the debate and here is my assessment 1. Obama was condescending last night. He struck me as one angry dude. That's sad. Gone are the days of wild eyed optimism that he ran on four years ago. He looked like the job is getting the better of him. His eyes were sullen and sunken. There was nothing he said last night that convinced me he had a plan. NOTHING. In fact when he flat out asserted that sequestration would not happen I was convinced more than ever that he is out of touch. He has no fiscal plan. His economic policy is an empty cabinet. 2. Romney had so many flip flops in position last night that I don't know where to begin. He truly had Romnesia last night. Romney was patronizing last night. His puppy dog eyes belied the fact that he really doesn't like the President. He has no fiscal policy to speak of. To paraphrase the President, his math doesn't add up. The President's math doesn't either. I think Obama out debated him from the been there, done that. It all comes down to Ohio.
