  1. I always think of Don Luce when it comes to winning a critical face-off. The reality is the center can win the draw but if his team does get the puck and maintain possession then he doesn’t really win. We a problem with this. This team is passive in their defensive zone and quick to go into a shell.
  2. So Ruff is playing the same style as Granato? Is that what you see? I don’t see that. I do see that Cozens is thinking and is not an instinctive player right now. I see that he takes on a lot, and that pressure is a problem for him. He can read and hear the news - the expectations for 7 years and $7 million. Then he gets a A. The team disappoints, he disappoints, and everything gets worse. For Dylan Cozens (and several other young Sabres), the failure of Kevyn Adams’ flawed rebuild is proving to be too much, too soon. Judging his current game Cozens is a 3rd line winger with a 2nd line ceiling, yet he is playing 1C, 2C, and on PP2. That is the way the roster is constructed. He will get blamed, and traded, and he will eventually have a good career somewhere else.
  3. Tuch, Krebs, a one, and a two. Vegas had nothing to lose. Even if Eichel did not recover, it was still a good risk to take. They also were not in a 14 year rebuild, they were knocking on the door, and did not give up anything that they needed to reach their goal. Apples and oranges comparison.
  4. You can call it lying, certainly calling it exaggeration is fair. I take all of these trade rumors tweets with a grain of salt. I’m not defending anything they tweet either. I am discussing how to handle the information. Ignoring it is my way. I am more old school than many here, probably more so than you. The way we get news and information has drastically changed in my lifetime. I no longer wait for Friday afternoon to get my weekly Sports Illustrated in the mail, or scour the local newspapers everyday, or wait for a sports program to air on TV to hear about what’s happening. Anyone can toss something out there on X. Speed of information is more important than detail and accuracy, and it’s about getting clicks, retweets, followers, etc. That’s our world right now.
  5. Maybe so. My opinion is based on a limited view. What I see is an unhappy floater with a ton of talent. Buffalo Sabres hockey under Pegula incubates unhappy floaters with tons of talent. I want an $11M player that hates losing and makes the players around him better. I would walk away from a trade for this guy.
  6. If we do acquire EP I suspect he will have one good season at the most, and then he turns back into the player that he is right now. I do not want him. He is not going to help us become a winning and hard working team. That is not him. He stagnated on Vancouver where they have much higher expectations than the Pegula Sabres. Let’s not rebuild with players that need rehab (see Lehner, Kane and Bogo), it won’t work.
  7. What else do the Sabres faithful want to hear about (or click on)? There are other stories but all they do is highlight what we know. That the fan base is dwindling, no one wants to play for or work for the Sabres, and that the franchise is dying.
  8. Third from the bottom. They aren’t even good enough to tank. They should just play it out.
  9. 7 seven years based on 57 games. Way to go Kevyn.
  10. I thought the goalie pushed it in after it hit Kulich’s foot.
  11. He is one of the very few positives in this season so far.
  12. Stan Getz was a fabulous sax player and a true pioneer in American jazz music. His ability to blend musically with the best in Bosa Nova was magical, as if he was doing it forever. An added plus. The recording engineers were also spectacular so the sound quality is excellent, it was recorded in 1963.
  13. Good day Teammates. I’ll catch the 3rd period. Go Sabres!
  14. Date day with the wife. I’ll be missing this one.
  15. Avs acting like they want another Cup now. They are not waiting for 20 years old in their pipeline, they are acquiring players that are blockers. Wait! I don't understand?
  16. Rumors say he was trying to get Necas, but the player said no. That would have been an excellent move. Prior to that he was after Pesce, another player that would have helped a lot. I am not excusing his performance. Bottom line is that he fails to deliver. Unfortunately, he has made the culture worse in his five years, not better. If I owned the team I would bring in a guy that is respected around the league. Pay him what it takes to fix this mess. That is first step to showing other players, player agents, and other GMs that this team is serious.
  17. But he didn't starve. The fan base is starving and will die of malnutrition. He made thousands, then hundreds of thousands, then millions, then hundreds of millions, then billions.
  18. Sure I get that. But they were not even going in a good direction with all three, which is why ROR said what he said. We covered this, the tear down was too far and the GM apparently knew nothing about setting a winning culture or roster chemistry. I know Botterill traded ROR, and Adams traded the other two several years later, and I know why. When you speak out against the Emperor or his kingdom then you get to go. We have not had a GM that is worth a dam since Regier.
  19. When Bosa Nova and American Jazz first came together, this is the record. One of the classic recordings of its time, this was an early introduction to Brazilian music and their top artists to North America. This is my collectible first pressing on Verve Records. I was lucky to find this in such pristine condition. The sound quality is as amazing as the performance. If you have a streaming service they will probably have it in their library.
  20. Mostly true although Eichel, Reinhart, ROR and others have played at a much higher level after they left. They have the stats and the hardware to show it. All three in Buffalo at once and they did little to elevate the team when they were here. Which is why a frustrated ROR said “losing is acceptable here”, he didn’t like it and he wasn’t wrong. There is a list of players that were good and not given a shot like Zadarov and Compher were traded for ROR so I won’t count them but players like Braydon McNabb and Hagel are examples of GM changes that disrupt development of the roster.
  21. I was at that game. One of the best ever Sabres games played in the Aud. Top 3 for sure. Schoeny was around 19-20 at the time. Just a crazy rookie that was insane to watch. Punch brought in the rugged and savvy veteran Tim Horton to pair with him and help teach him the ropes. Look at the box score and read the names. https://www.hockey-reference.com/boxscores/197212130BUF.html It took Punch 3 years to build a solid and sustainable playoff team with the right combination of veterans and youth. Sure, the game is much different now but it just doesn't have to be like this, this bad for this long, with three rookie GMs running things into the ground.
