Yes. Time spent with your daughter is more important than how bad the team is. Next year she might be too cool to go anywhere with you. Take her to the game and be a positive role model. Even if the team stinks.

Lots of debate for a young player getting his first look. Starting off centering the 4th line is not going to hurt him. This is a look, not a promotion. Chances are he moves to another line once he gets the feel of the NHL.

The late 69’s and early 70’s Bruins team with Orr snd Esposito only won one Cup too. I heard interviews with some of them and they felt like they wasted their opportunity. They said the did a lot of partying.

Yup. I’m just trying to stay positive. Hard to say what irrational behavior is next. It could be several years of a down market. If you’re young and adding to your nest-egg it’s probably an opportunity. If you’re already retired and using some of your savings, like me, it feels like an unnecessary burden and it’s a double hit.

I targeted 2020 to retire and covid hit. I’ve seen these corrections in pretty much every decade that I’ve been investing. I get the extra certainty with this one, but the Covid sell off was much worse (so far) and the market rebounded. Hold on and ride it out. If you can buy more stocks/funds in the down market.

@Thorner, I give this thumbs downs, not because of you, but because of the message from Go Bills. The Sabres are playing better and they are getting great goaltending - hence the 5-1. I’m not saying they are a good team either, they are a work in progress, but they deserved to win the games they won. This XGF, HDCF, FF% analytic stuff is fine buts it’s not everything. One game out of the 5 wins was because Reimer stood on his head. Other than that they outplayed their opponents. These guys that count xGF and xGA metrics, are they standardized NHL beancounters?

It would very Sabresy to see Quinn stay hot and get 20 goals this year, have Adams pencil him in in the top 6 again, and then see him struggle once the games actually matter. It is almost guaranteed to happen.

My hockey experience is that the perennial losers in any decade are losers because they have the worst roster, dig deeper and it points to the ownership. Losing all the time means no media coverage. The Sabres have Dahlin and Thompson, both get respect around the league but they play on a losing team so it only goes so far. The Sabres biggest news every year usually involves the poor hockey deals they make, the static nature of their FO, and the woeful product that the fans have to endure. My hockey friends around the country always ask "why doesn't Pegula just do with the Sabres what he did with the Bills?" If only it was that simple.
