  1. I've been thinking this for years. They don't do enough "team" off ice activities and events. I know they do some charity stuff and some individuals more than others (all teams do) but online I run into tons of stuff from the Bruins and teams like that and almost nothing similar from the Sabres. It's the right idea. Nobody much is going to care though until this team has an identity and enthusiasm on the ice that is infectious though.
  2. With you 100%. It's going to be UPL and one of them though I'd bet on it. It's WRONG, but that's what it's going to be. Unless he's absolutely horrible and clearly not ready in preseason it'll be UPL, that's their masterplan now. If it's Anderson and Dell, well then we are just teaching the next bunch to lose like we did with the last bunch. We needed to surround these kids with solid veterans who work hard and Adams gave that rhetoric, but his veterans were just unemployed cast offs. I guess the hope is they are all hard working Curtis Lazar types, but really, it's just garbage.
  3. Honestly not our worst signing. Can play a little better than Dalton Smith at least. A little.
  4. I played hockey with Dave Andreychuk once. (he was really good.)
  5. Ya, because his path is a tank. Yes, full of crap I agree, but he is comfortable as there is without any doubt a plan to tear it all down and rebuild with youth - AGAIN. It's clearly a plan. They're not doing it right, but it is a plan - AGAIN. So spin and lie and buy time and make excuses and and promises and wait for the next draft. That's it. AGAIN. Only 2 things remain to be seen. 1. What do we get for Eichel and when? and 2. Is Granato a sacrificial lamb like Ted Nolan was or is he their coach for the kids going forward? Not sure they know the answer themselves. Stupid F'n team.
  6. I think you've lowered your bar so low you're digging a trench.
  7. Those are the alumni jerseys we will have for the 75th anniversary.
  8. Oh sure. Let's put the C on him after Eichel is gone.
  9. This is beyond ridiculous. Actually found a way to downgrade from Hutton.
  10. Your optimism is admirable I guess but continually losing isn't "fun". Being the laughing stock of the league isn't "fun". It just isn't fun or funny any more. maybe if we had a Ted Nolan bunch of scrappers we could have a few good nights of rock em sock em but this is simply going to be ridiculous. The only wins we will get is when the opposition takes us too lightly and fails to show up. There is nothing about this that will be "fun".
  11. I don't really want to argue with you about this. I'm really pissed off and bummed out about this team today and if we get into it I'm going to unleash on you as a scapegoat so whatever. You don't understand that there's more to the game than just "talent" that's fine. You're really wrong, but again, whatever.
  12. You never played hockey so you don't get it. Fair enough, but it's true. It is a culture of losing. and it does matter.
  13. Come on, it's obvious now. The plan is UPL. and they don't care if he fails. If he fails high picks added and if he's destroyed he was Botterill's and they move on to Levi. If by some miracle he succeeds under the onslaught, well that's fine too, they look like geniuses. That's the "plan" as dumb as it seems.
  14. Here's what actually happened behind the scenes. Eichel came in and demanded a trade. Terry said, oh ya? Well F U Jack. You won't play for a rebuild? Take a look at this buddy. You're signed for years and this is your punishment. So enjoy that buddy while I go watch some football.
  15. This is exactly it and speaks to my question. We're going to be fed the idea that this is a new era, turned page, rebuild etc. It's stripped down to the studs so to speak, but how long until you've just taught the next bunch to lose? There doesn't seem to be a build plan going along with the deconstruction of the losing plan.
  16. My question is why is this next to nothing signing thread pinned? I mean I know it's our "is that all there is" but really? It's a big pile of nothing.
  17. I agree but imo there's one missing component. You need a few solid (perhaps past their prime so you can get them, but with the right attitude/style) veterans added to the young roster to teach, act as mentors, lead, show them the way. Without that, the culture will be harder to rebuild. and they didn't add that.
  18. Look at it objectively though. If you are Ullmark, are you going to take 6 or even 7 million from the losers (hypothetically saying even if they went that high which I doubt) or 5 million to go play on a winner where the players all love it there and the fans love them with a passion? I know that extra few million wouldn't mean anything to me if I was him.
  19. It is telling I suppose that the comments quickly shifted to the Bills.
  20. I've been a Sabres fan for over 45 years and don't think I've ever felt as hopeless about this team as I do right now. Maybe as I age and get closer to death it's my own feeling that I will never see a cup winner in my lifetime but there just never seems to be an end to this. The first tank was bad, but it gave hope for a rebuild and a turnaround as we had this sure thing generational star coming (one of the big two guaranteed). This time we have top notch prospects coming and some young talent but how long before that amounts to nothing better? I just don't know any more. We needed to surround these kids we have with veteran leadership in order to build a foundation but what did we do instead? Stripped it down and added nothing. There is absolutely zero chance this team can win and make the playoffs. ZERO. So here's what I'm wondering and if we have any sports psychologists around what's the real answer? ROR lost his love, Risto was fed up with losing, Sm wasn't going to re-sign, Jack has had enough and wants out. We have the timelines on how long that took. Players like Cozens come in here full of spirit and desire and now he's got one year of losing already. We are clearly adding another this season. How long before he loses his love and wants out? Dahlin's had a few years already how many more until he's the same as Risto? Who will lead this team at all? Who will keep the fire burning for all these kids in a losing environment and how many years until it all happens again? I'm serious, if this is a strip down and redo from scratch how much time do we have until it's all bust yet again?
  21. Suppose that depends on an Eichel deal cause then he compare Sam and Jack outcomes and probabilities.
  22. It will be interesting, purely from an objective hockey point of view, to see what Ullmark does behind an actual good D and team that back checks. I have a feeling it might be similar to Lehner onto the Islanders.
  23. The only upside I see here is it probably means we will do the smarter thing and let Power stay in college for the year. Butcher maybe gets moved at the deadline for another low-ish pick. Seems like a plan. Maybe next year we actually try to start getting better before our conversation is all about the trading of Dahlin and tanking threads.
  24. I think he's Czech. Would have had everybody hoping for a Hasek repeat. He was inconsistent with the Bruins and I guess they decided he'd peaked at mediocre. Swayman is the heir apparent.
  25. Please share what kind of narcotics you are on because I want some!
