Also, might I point out that although we took the top pick D man this was a draft filled with promising D and we didn't take any others. We lost 2 added 1. Supposed to be restocking the cupboard, the D prospect pool is pretty thin.

I'm still going to hold out hope that an Eichel trade will be with Minnesota and it'll be futures/prospects plus Marcus Foligno, and then we will sign his brother as an FA and boom a C and an A, not central roles but important to teach leadership and team attitude, not going to "box out" anyone (at least not anyone on this team) but necessary for the team to grow. If we don't, and we do trade Eichel, who's even going to wear the C? There's no one.

Along with Arizona and Columbus I don't think there's any question, we are in the fight for Wright. Unlike the last tank the young stockpile to move forward with should be deeper and we just might get it wright this time but those 2 teams and maybe a few others will give us a run for the bottom. Odds of being any good are pretty slim, playoffs not a chance.

I was wondering this too. Could he become a tough guy? Definitely sounds like a potential grinder, which is good, as all that small skill needs some to go with it.

I guess this trade is why they didn't take Wallestadt. I was hoping for a while we'd do some variation of Sam for Merzlikins, this will be even better but long term, not tomorrow. Florida went from the deepest goaltender cupboard in the league to average real fast. I've always felt goaltenders were good currency. I think we have a good one here. Hopefully we don't rush these guys.

I think there was a bidding war and there may have been many teams involved. The D men trades seemed to follow one after another. Contrary to popular opinion I think Philly got what they wanted and was willing to pay extra to get it. They had the scoring forwards but their D sucked really really bad and that exposed Hart too. Now adding Ellis and Risto, with Provorov their D is pretty respectable. They just might compete next year. But it was a good trade for us all the same.

Reinhart was all too often a player that frustrated me to watch so I suppose it's only fitting his trade and all the weird delay here is just as irritating.

Peca was my fave from that era. We really need a new version for today's team.
